I personally don't like the fake exhausts but it seems like everyone is doing these days, even Mercedes and Audi on the RS models have fake tips now. I much prefer the look of the real chrome tips and think they look like the exhaust on the older S3 & RS3:

I personally don't like the fake exhausts but it seems like everyone is doing these days, even Mercedes and Audi on the RS models have fake tips now. I much prefer the look of the real chrome tips and think they look like the exhaust on the older S3 & RS3:

Just to clarify, are you saying that the chrome tips shown in your pics are fake and not actually part of the exhaust system?

The trapezoid exhausts referred to as being non functional are these ones below. Purely cosmetic, exhaust fumes do not pass through either of them at all.

I will be very interested to find out if my ordered 162TSI will have these trapezoid exhausts.
I doubt it will have them, but the Australian brochure seems to imply that it will - "Trapezoidal exhausts left and right on the 162TSI Highline give it a purposeful appearance." ... but then again, maybe they have made a mistake with that statement?

I believe the first 162TSI production will only start next month, could be the reason why no brochures have any specs on it yet.

I'll be taking a new Tiguan for a 24 hr test drive tonight. I'll be sure to try and post pics and what not. However most of what we know is already covered in here.

I have only to choose from the TSI 132 model as that's the only one here in Oz,. Either the luxury package or drivers assist... which one to test?

No I am saying I don't like the fake trapezoid ones, prefer the real exhaust tips in the photo I posted. I think the trapezoid ones are only on the BiTurbo Diesel model as that is the only one in all the YouTube videos I have watched that has them.

Would be good if you can get both the upgrades but if you have to choose only one then I think drivers assist should be the way to go as you wouldn't want to miss reviewing the active info display and 360 cameras. IMO anyways

I would be getting both with the R line anyways but I'm interested to see how they do the compartments with the sunroof. Might take a look before I test drive. I'm leaning towards DAP

Didn't realise you could do 24hr test drives. Are these specific to a particular dealer or is this available through any dealership?

It's called the puppy dog technique of vehicle sales. Take it home and you won't want to give it back....

Not all dealers will do this but if you don't ask, you don't get.
