  • Pre-Warranty Expire Dealer Check - Brisbane - 2018 VW Wolfsburg

Hi everyone, it's been almost 5 years of trouble free ownership (31 January 2024) and 54,000km (logbook serviced not VW) since I took delivery of my Tiguan.

I have it booked in next week for a final pre warranty expiry check and have listed some things to be looked at/fixed and was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions for items to be reviewed before warranty expires in a couple of months:

    1. Gearbox slightly more jerky at cold start than when new.
    2. Check water pump
    3. HUD screen makes a bit of noise when deploying
    4. Crash alert warning on dash (without brake application) has become a bit too sensitive lately
    5. Service campaigns (3) listed when I put in my VIN Service Campaigns and Recalls | Volkswagen Australia

Qld rego check link if you want to find your VIN:

I would also get your Haldex filter cleaned and oil changed for your all wheel drive system. VW does not clean this filter as part of their service schedule and it can:

    - At best case your rear wheels to not engage when required, rendering your Tiguan as a front wheel drive vehicle.
    - At worst case it can cause your Haldex system to fail, which is an expensive cost to replace it.

Not sure if a VW service centre will do this task seeing its not part of their service schedule. You may need to take the car to an independent VW/Audi service centre in Brissy, of which there are several.

Thanks Lucas - logbook servicing not done by VW dealer and yes indeed Haldex filter has been cleaned and changed for the AWD system. Am getting it done every 30k regardless of service book intervals.

Sorry - assumed from what you had written in your initial post that you had it serviced by VW.

So I had the check done today and added a few things - results below for those interested.

          1. Gearbox slightly more jerky at cold start than when new
          2. Check water pump (checked all good)
          3. HUD screen makes a bit of noise when deploying (checked and faulty and removed - new one on order - under warranty)
          4. Crash alert warning on dash (without brake application) has become a bit too sensitive lately (Checked and errors found, new software installed as one of the 3 VW Service Campaigns and tested as ok)
          5. Service campaigns (3) listed (all checked and rectified) when I put in my VIN Service Campaigns and Recalls | Volkswagen Australia

          6. Rear Drivers side Jesus Bar broken (checked and found broken and new Jesus bar on order - under warranty)
          7. Single rusty bolt on front drivers door (checked and found to be rusty - new bolt and strap on order - under warranty)
