I just hope the production version doesn't understeer as much as the prototypes spied testing at the Nürburgring

It’ll definitely be coming here and I’ll be a buyer! I agree that it will be priced circa $70-75k with all the fruit. think the reason the T Roc R has not come to date is pricing (would be too high for OZ relative to value, interior a big step down on what would be hoped), quite a few VAG cars now on the way with a PPF (Skoda Superb 4x4 for one, current Audi RS3).

I wonder whether the PPF will kill it for us.
Isnt that the reason why the T-Roc R isn’t heading down under?

Looks like it will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq RS, that being just under $66,000 plus ORC so VW won't sell this less than $70,000 and yeah I know the Kodiaq RS is a diesel, so different market but still in "smile while you drive land".

They would be mad not to sell them here. I read somewhere that Australia sells a disproportionally higher amount of Golf Rs, Audi S3s and GTIs compared with other markets, and VW have sold a massive amount of 162s with R-Line packs. We will lap them up.Originally posted by shauno View PostOh that’s nice!
About bloody time... assuming it’s $70k for one in blue, 20’s, Akro exhaust - I’m in!
Though chances of it being released here? I’d guess VWA messes it up somehow
I'd expect that they come it at 70k-75k.

I’m guessing we’ll see them here eventually, but wonder if they’ll be down-tuned for ‘hot climate’...

Wonder what the quality of the ride will be like on those 21”s?
In comfort mode the 20”s on the R-line are OK, but I don’t think I’d like anything with smaller profile in sport mode...
What size wheel combo on the R Golf?

It’s a stock tune same as Mk8 Golf R. So whatever tuners can do to the Golf they will be able to get similar numbers out of the Tiguan.Originally posted by iDiesel View PostI think/hope high $60k would be a good start with options taking it above $75k.
I like it, thought not a fan of button less HVAC controls.
I do also like they have lit up the USB ports under the HVAC controls. That one of my minor gripes in that it can be hard to see the ports.
Wonder how much more grunt tuners can squeeze out of that engine - I assume it's a tuned up version of the Golf R motor.
Main difference is the DQ500 gearbox in the Tig vs. DQ381 in the Golf.
I suspect these will be in the mid-$70’s similar pricing differential between the Golf GTI and R to the Tig 162 and Tig R.

Agree, and I like it. But the price will be the determining factor. At just under $100K you can have a RSQ3, so a Tiguan R would have to be less than $75K to be worthwhile.Originally posted by veew View PostI gotta give it to them, they finally gave us a Tiguan R! Its a good upgrade, will be interesting to see what the price will be.
