  • Tuning for Tiguan 2.0 132kw 180ps CZPA JB4 Gen3B Group 8 vs RaceChip or similar

Wondering if anyone have purchased or been able to use/test JB4 for Gen3B Group 8 (EA888 Budac Cycle) with Tiguan 2.0 FSI 132kw CZPA Engine or Race Chip GTS or similar Tuning box or ECU tune if available yet?
What is your personal tested tuning experience and real result with this engine?
    Thx in advance!

        There's a thread on JB4 Tuning for EA888 3B engine here: JB4 for Gen3B 2.0T VAG Group - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

Seems like the product is reasonably stable even though it's still listed as in Beta. Only issues appears to be heat/higher intake temps causing the ECU to back off.

Thx Tigger73 , I follow this thread long time. But really not any real charts only some marketing usual hype and talk . Most user on that forum are USA Tiguan with 8 speed automatic lower nm transmission but super reliable and smooth .VW in USA don't want to risk with DSG and clunking rattle noise complain and new car returns and complain , smart management!
Hope someone with JB4 group 8 or RaececChip will post here some honest real result and review with some tuning gain charts.

Ok if you’re wanting more performance out of the 132TSI at the moment this is pretty much your only choice between Racechip and JB4.

Just pick one and run it. Then you can report back for everyone else.

Understand that some people are reluctant to be first, however I think the units/companies are both well proven on other models. The gains are reasonable (but not massive). However there’s currently no other way to get this sort of improvement out of the vehicle.

I’m not sure what you’re waiting for. There’s already quite a few people that have installed the unit and confirmed there’s reasonable gains.

As they develop further it’ll get better and if a tune comes out and you upgrade you can always get 60% of your money back for the JB4 second hand. I see it as a low risk with a decent upside and not a big downside.

I’d be choosing the unit that is going to be easier to resell later. I think JB4 has bigger market share in Australia so that would be my choice purely from support and resale.

I have used JB1&4 in 3 x VW's and they have never failed to deliver exactly what they promised. Of course they have an upper limit imposed by the hardware, turbo, injectors, intercooler etc but so is every other tuning method. Just get on with it, you won't regret it.

              Cheers

Wanted to resurrect this thread to see if anyone has tuned a CZPA Tig yet?

Looks like there are options from JB4 and APR around. Has anyone tried any? Are they worth it if everything else is stock?

Awesome. I’ll have to do some research. Not going to be doing this soon though. Thanks

If you are in Melbourne then the only option in my opinion is UGP (Underground Performance) for VW/Audi tuning.

This is the first time ive ever heard of ExcelTune. I had to look them up.

Thanks, I do follow UGP and they have a good rep.

I've never dealt with ExcelTune, from what I can tell they do "Quantum Tuning" remaps.

I just had a look on the Quantum tuning website and I see they have Exceltune as one of their dealers in the Melbourne area. Now while im sure the Quantum remaps are fine, they fact that they tune absolutely every brand of car and model under the sun and dont seem to specialise on any specific brand or type would make me avoid them - especially when someone like UGP is in the same city and these guys specialise in VW/Audi/Skoda products heavily and have done so much work on the 2.0TSI engine tuning.

The other option is Tarmac Engineering (also known as SpecTune) who have just partnered with Vtune performance who are in Tullamarine VTune Facebook page . Tarmac/Spectune have also done a lot of development work on the 2.0TSI engine and would be another company I would recommend considering. Tarmac Engineering - Home

Actually I recall a member on here who had his Budac cycle 2.0TSI engine tuned by Underground not too long ago. He left the car with them for a few days so they could get it right as it was the 1st Budac engine they had tuned. Ive been trying to find the thread but no luck yet. Give them a buzz.
