  • Thanks for your comment. Yes, the black plastic mount at front worries me. Perhaps I would go regular size front and slimline at the back.

      Nice one.

If you take a gander through this thread, there’s a few people who’ve removed the mount and capped the holes. Go for the look you like, the rest can be figured out!

attachments don't seem to be working.
how long was the lead time on the lakin mount? did you have to provide measurements or had he already done something for euro plates on a tig?

          • I do regret not getting the euro plates on mine
Everytime I see a Tig with them, I kick myself, but now can’t get myself to upgrade given I may change out in the next 12-18 mths

Yes Lakin plates get a good wrap from almost everyone.

Yeah Euro plates do look good, however over here they are an annual fee so it's a bit of a revenue raiser.

i'd say custom plates in general are a bit of a revenue raiser.

i believe we've got it pretty good down here in VIC compared to other states, but it's certainly not cheap (for the good styles anyway)

To do it "properly" you'd fill the holes and then respray the bumper but probably not worth it unless you were fixing up a bunch of stone chips at the same time.
                  Hey Tigger

As I am getting the front bumper replaced is it too much to ask the panel beater to do this ?

How much effort is it to fill (do they just use bog ?) and sand prior to painting ?

Why dont you just ask him If you get in before he paints it and chuck him a slab it will probably get done.. We can say its no trouble at all but hes doing the job and may have a different idea

                    • Maybe a dumb Q (hey I am not a panel beater) but if they use bog to fill the hole, whats to stop the bog from falling out after its dried ?

Plastic welding is the proper way to do it.

                          • The first video you linked to is plastic welding. This is the proper way to fill holes in a plastic bumper bar.

                            • What are everyone’s thoughts on the new 2021 Tiguan model and number plates?
From the vehicles I’ve seen reviewers using the car has lost the ugly black plastic number plate holder on the front, and the area on the bumper seems quite small. Maybe even smaller than a full Euro plate?
