So question. If I buy just the turbo, which I'm about to do, will I need any other parts to fit it in.. I know I'll need to tune, but will the turbo just bolt on straight forward or do I need other brakcets and stuff?
I don't mind doing the DP and tune.. just want to make sure I don't need to spend heaps on other pieces for it to fit
You might as well buy install the DP and an intake at the same time to get the full benefit. Might want to consider colder plugs also.
I’d agree without the DP but some simple intake mods and a high flow panel filter work just as well as some of the aftermarket intakes on the market.
If you’re on a budget I’d do the DP and IS38 at the same time as this will save you $300-400 in total build cost as you’ll only pay for the DP to get pulled out once.

True, I just install an aftermarket panel filter, snow grate removal, turbo inlet and inlet elbow. These are all fairly low cost items.
Well done mate, is that for a golf 7.5 ? Let me know if its a confirmed fit and I’ll update the front page...
No its for my Tiggy. Will let you know How I go.
In collecting other parts for it, does anyone know if there is any difference between a CTS Downpipe for the GOLF 7.5 R, and the Tiggy? CTS has a different part code which has a "-T" extension to the code of the GOLF R. It is also a bit more expensive. Is this just a marketing ploy, or is there some actual difference?

Sorry Davman, I meant is the revision G Is38 originally from a Golf 7.5 R ?
Not sure about the CTS pipe, a number of people have purchased this one for their tigs and may be able to come in here.
VW Tiguan 162 TSI Highline w/ R-Line & DAP. Mods: OEM IS38 turbo, APR IS38 98 RON ECU tune, TVS Stage 2 + with custom TCU tune, APR Downpipe and resonator delete, APR turbo inlet, VWR turbo muffler delete, APR pendulum mount, APR dog bone insert, APR Open Pod Filter (MQB), RAMAIR intake tube, APR Red Ignition Coils, NGK R7437-9 Spark Plugs, DBA T3 slotted rotors front and T2 slotted rotors rear, ATE ceramic pads front and rear Vbox: 0-100 4.1s
I've bought the "-T" version, along with high flow Cat and CEL eliminator. I just didn't want to take any chances.
Don't quote me on this, but I suspect the Golf R version may not be long enough to reach the muffler, so may require an extension.

I'm getting mine done through Etuners (CV Performance in Taren Point).
Can't say what the cost is just for a turbo swap as I'm having a bucket load of stuff done at the same time. Hopefully mid August.

Hi Beedub, is that Etuners or Etuners Motorsport? If the former, will be interesting to see how much power they can get out of the IS38...
