Here's the kit I bought: SuperPro Rear 24mm Adjustable Swaybar & Link Kit Fits Audi VWRC0052RZ-24KIT

I bought it when there was a 20% off sale for SuperPro, however Sparesbox has got 15% off until the end of the month site-wide. You may find it cheaper elsewhere. There's a number of other options for Mk7 Golf R (Whiteline, H&R, etc) and they should all fit/work.

In terms of fitting it wasn't too bad. I did it on the drive on jack stands in around an hour and a half. Had a bit of a struggle getting the end links seated into the frame. It's all pretty basic - 8 bolts to do everything. Would have been easier to drop the exhaust but managed to do get the bar in/out with it still bolted up.

Thanks for the heads up tigger73. I was just looking up the site as well and couldn’t find the one you got. I’ll have a look at the link. H&R ones are like $900.

They don't list it for the Tiguan. You have to select Mk7 R. Or just put it the part number. and yes the H&R ones are expensive. I couldn't justify spending more than I did for effectively the same thing.

Also I didn't want to go too big (i.e 25-26mm) in terms of the upgrade as then I'd probably have to do the front as well to match and that's a much bigger job in terms of the installation.

The stock bar is 22mm and pretty sure it's hollow too as the 24mm SuperPro bar is noticeably heavier.

Thanks for the helpful tips, I see what you mean. It sounds like a very good upgrade for the money and the way to go.

Yeah it’s a good bang for buck mod. I’d go either the SuperPro or Whiteline bars but as the end links came in the kit is was cheaper to buy everything together.

Yeah for sure, I’ll also go for the SuperPro one myself when I’m ready.

                  • What's the advantage in the Mk7s?

                      Mk7 Golf R/GTI Performance runs a ventilated 310mm x 22mm rear disc. The stock Tig/base GTI runs a solid 300mm x 12mm disc.

There’s options in terms of running larger disc with a relocation kit for the caliper but I’m just going with a 310mm DBA rotor and Forza FP2 pad for now.

                      • What is your reasoning for the upgrade?

                          Because race car.

Actually it's partly a tax write-off combined with stimulus for the Coronavirus economy.

Also I have 6 pot Alcons up front with 378mm rotors so decided a mild rear brake upgrade was in order.

                          • I can fix the tax write off...give me some, I can give you an invoice. Seriously what gain do bigger brakes give, I live in an area that punishes brakes and mine have never reached anything like brake fade.

Generally shorter stopping distances and the ability to pull up significantly quicker when you really need to.

Plus it kind of balances out the additional “go” my car has with equally good braking.
