Map update?

Looks like the Update for Rest of the World (ROW) has been removed from the VW Map update page?
Anyone heard what's going on?

Maybe they finally getting around to updating the one that came out in November. Its still on the Skoda site and the link I posted above still works ok as I just tried it.

You can only get the Skoda one with a Valid SKODA VIN which I have.

If you click on the link in Reply 134 it will bring up the VW file to be downloaded and yes it is compatible as it is the real VW map

The Skoda one is exactly the same just with a different file name

You worry too much I have downloaded it to verify what it is and there is nothing wrong with it It brings up the file and it is the real one

Several of us have got it without problems and my computer is so buttoned up it wont let me download suspect files

I downloaded this and there's a .txt file in it that states "This is the description file for the Software Update of Audi components" I'll give it a go.

Which one are you using The one in the link on 134????

It is the actual file which is the VW one

You dont even need to open that file Just put the whole folder on a SD card and stick it in the unit

I did it via the link you had on post 134.


I had to "allow" my "HTTPS Everywhere" blocker.


It did not open automatically (not on simply sticking it in at least).


I started by following the instructions in the file "Discover Pro June_2019_EN.pdf", which says " Insert the SD card into one of the SD card slots on your vehicle until it audibly clicks into place.
• Now select the “MENU” button on the Discover Pro. Click on “Update software” in the “Setup”
menu under “Version information”. Now follow the instructions on the display of the Discover Pro" but it mentioned HARDWARE so I aborted in case it messed up.
It may have found the maps software but I chose to click Menu/NAVIGATION/Settings/Version info./Update. A search began and a message appeared "Available data: NavDB Version 2020"/[NEXT]. The update began with a progress indicator running at 20% per 10'. At 100 % I waited patiently a couple of minutes & "Software update Complete OK" appeared.

So what do you want It uses the GPS to show you the map for your location ROW means REST OF WORLD and is a whole lot of countries that are NOT on the other maps It works you are overthinking things

I was merely making an observation. I found it odd/confusing that it said R.O.W.(and it is, from the files contained) but it then went on to suggest that it was only for Australia and NZ.
I'm going to check. If it is R.O.W. I should be able to plan a route to Darwin then across to New Guinea.

What it means is if you are in any of the countries included in the map it will know your location and show ONLY the appropriate map.

EG it doesnt show NZ if you arent in NZ and neither does the Tom tom I have which has AUS/NZ and also North America and Mexico.

I tried once to plot a course to an address in NZ but it didnt work

That's clever of it. So if I ferried the car over to New Guinea, a version check should show New Guinea maps and might even show points of interest where there are no head-hunters

Try it and lets know Just put it in and drive Im sure you will get there.

Your maps may have the information on them but they won't show anything unless you code your MIB to another region. Our vehicles will only display Australian/New Zealand regional maps.
Oh and VW don't support PNG maps, best you can do is West Papua, which is part of the Indonesian region.
