Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Intake fitment for tRoc r 2023

Hi all, i just wanted to find out if anyone has installed a full intake without fitment problems.

First one has a elbow/pipe with breatherhose-
-this intake is rubbing/touching the 3 small hoses ( i think its a secondary vacuum hose?)

-forge like piping with inlet on the hose
-its pulling down the lower clip that connects to the battery (hose also has wierd bends)

Vw golf r mk8 RHD seem to have no problems as they don't have that clip in the way.

(Yes I regret buying the products from ebay, but they look like identical shapes)

Ill try put up some pictures. Thanks in advance

The intakes made specially for the EA888.4 has no problems at all, 100% fitment

Racingline R600 plus intake elbow plus TIP on my R, no issues at all.

As Sharkie said it sounds like you have the wrong model - suitable for the Gen 3 EA888 and not the Gen 4. Pics would absolutely help!

Other than some $$$ lost, don't worry about it, it was an educational experience. I certainly am not against using non-mainstream brands (and dare I say it blatant knock-offs for some of my cars) and have done so with at least a 60% success rate

On new platforms and especially when it comes to my wife's car (the T-Roc R) I don't though, the risk to me is just too great LOL.

Not sure if you know but there is a recall out to get your new updated engine cover fitted. I've had mine done. They need to see your car first as there are two engine covers and they need to order the correct one so two trips to the service department are required.

Thanks yes, I got mine fitted at the 1st service this last July (intake predates the service lol). Ordered it myself directly from my contact at Spare Parts who kept it aside for me (stock on hand is constantly low to non-existent) so it was there when the service was done.

What's wrong with E-Bay returns? if i buy stuff that doesn't fit it goes back for refund. Never a problem.

That only works if what you bought was made (or advertised to fit) for a T-Roc R and then doesn't fit. Buying for a MK8 Golf and then doesn't fit a T-Roc R means the seller has full right to refuse a refund.

Doesn't matter - if you don't like it you can still return but will have to pay postage. E-Bay labels are not expensive, and sellers who don't offer refunds are not common. Even if they don't offer refunds, E-Bay will override them, it's pretty much a buyer's bias.
