Not the worst thing to happen tbh. Gut it then and run without.

Incidentally, I have heard that more than half of all VWs seen by a person I think we both know and use products and services from, with PPFs actually have nothing in the PPF canisters (as in they are hollow from the factory), so you likely won't damage anything.

Thats an absolute bargain for $50. I have enough to do my next oil change but might grab another bottle just because its so cheap.

Oh wow so lots of them are actually empty? Thats interesting. I guess you could tap on the canister and get a reasonable idea if its hollow or not?

Yes, when they come off to be replaced with a downpipe, it seems a lot of them are totally empty.
