To be honest I was just trying to consolidate the process for one vehicle to save someone else having to read through 30 pages of information, a lot of which was not relevant to the particular model vehicle.

Yeah Fair enough Perhaps we should make a sticky for doing it but after 5 years most will have up dated at least annually as maps are updated every 6 months.

Been a while but a couple of weeks back I checked for updates and they were therefor the GTI40 and T-ROC so have updated both with the latest version

Is there a way to report a map error? There's a road I travel on regularly which the map thinks isn't navigable. It wants me to turn up a side street to navigate around the perfectly good road that has been there for many decades. Each time I upgrade I hope it'll be fixed but as of the latest file I downloaded (P99_N60S5MIBH3_ROW_NT.7z) it's still wrong.

Hi All
Hopefully this of use to the less IT savvy of you who may have been messing around with the Map Material Update instructions from VW.
Firstly I was able to download the map material directly to a Windows PC. There was no need to use a Download Manager.
Secondly I was able to use WinRAR to unzip the .7z download to a 64GB SD card. These instructions reference using the 7-Zip data compression system to extract the update files. I believe most current PCs will have WinRAR as the default file compression programme. There is no need to download 7-Zip (which if using a work PC you will often be prevented from doing anyway).
The update took about 45 minutes or so, done while I driving the car.

Been doing exactly that for past 11 years and is mentioned early in the thread. No most DONT have Win RAR as its a paid for program

Change travel method from whatever to "shortest" or fastest whichever works

Can you tell me if the latest versions of the map updates will work on my recently purchased second hand Touareg. I assume that I cannot use any of the packages that are available on the VW site (they only offer updates for the Touareg from 2018 on).

Will the Discover package linked in the post from Flipper Dog work for me?

Probably not but if you post a photo of the version information of your unit someone will know. AFAIK the Touareg had a different unit to all other models and required a different map. It wont work on a 2012 as the MIB2 its for came out a long time after that (2017)??? Ask in the Towrag forum as owners will know.

I tried to get version information, and the only thing I could get was by pressing phone and setup buttons at the same time where it gave me the info in the attached photo.
