Maps update

After getting nowhere with VW Australia and my dealer, I finally had enough and contacted VW Germany to get help on how to regularly update the Maps in my car. The German contact was stunned at the lack of support I’ve had from VW Australia and my dealer.
Turns out there is an App VW provides for Windows and Mac which will create an SD card for any region in the world. It will also let you know when an update is available. Here is the link. Enjoy

Thanks for the link. Sadly, only versions for windoze and mac. None for linux or android.
Yes, will need to try an emulator.

Please, make no mistake. I'm very happy and grateful for your link.
I've d/loaded both versions, and shall see which or what I can get working with an emulator, or an old MacBook Air.
It appears likely the windoze version will work using the wine emulator in Linux. If this works for me, I'm happy to help others.

Thanks for the link just updated my R 7.5 0062 to 0065, when downloading I had to use a temporary directory on my notebook the app then copies the files to the SDRam you'll need 32GB

Looks like there is one for the discover media gen 2 however.

The obvious change is that the navigation voice is finally in intelligible!

Took my GTI into the dealership yesterday on its last day of warranty to get this update installed.

Cut a long story short the update wouldn't install on my car and their techs were baffled.

They've written to VW in Germany for help so they can have another go next week.

Does anybody know if this fix to the navigation voice is one we can do ourselves ?

My Wolfsburg was built in June so you may already have the version shown above Discover PRO Gen2 is the correct device, do you already have 0065?

I used a notebook with Win10 point the download to a local directory once finished [2hrs] the program automatically updates a blank SDRam 32GB [30min] then with the ignition on place the SDRam in one of the SD slots in the glove box the Discover Pro will detect the upgrade follow prompts to upgrade [30min] turn off fan, interior lights, headlights etc. front leds will stay on. Note the current Discover Pro stores the files internally.

Just a quick side note, I left my ignition off and simply turned the Head Unit on. Still worked.

Ok just doing this now. Should I be worried that my SD card has under 8GB of usable space when the update (I think) is over 8GB??

Currently downloading files, but the backup is over 8GB....

Edit... Files saved to SD card no worries. But MIB II didn't recognise the files....off to VW I go...

Hey guys, in the app which option did you choose for "Market":

Multi Region Map2 for Media Gen2
Multi Region Map
Multi Region Map1 for Media Gen2

Not sure which one i need?
