Yeah I realise that but some didnt pick up on which map it is that the link is to. All good but you are still one behind so check in about 4 weeks and VW may have caught up LOL

Well it is that time of year again (end of week 45) where Skoda releases the latest map updates for Discover Pro before Volkswagen.

Just completed the update - downloaded the zip file, extracted it to a 64 gb SD card, put it in the SD slot in the car, updated the maps. after a bit over an an hour, update done. Easy as that.

Yeah thats fine if they never update them. I was more intrigued to see if there was any difference. I only use waze or google maps as the built in navigation is a bit redundant with android auto, apple car play these days. Its still nice to have as another "feature" in the car but.

Does anyone else have issues with the SD card not being read? Am using the same 64gb card as used in the past with no issue. Also would like to know what the actual version number is for this update.

Map version is 90 as in the file name if for Discover Pro You need to state what MMI you have a s the Media version is different as per replies on prev page

We are talking about maps for DISCOVER PRO which are 24GB Seems you have a discover MEDIA unit which takes smaller and different maps and has a VW SD card that it wont work without it.

The Pro will load maps off an SD card or a USB stick and are 29gb when unzipped

Discover pro is the glass faced unit with NO KNOBS

To save confusion that is not correct, the first Discover Pro had knobs, the question is what file is for what version of the pro or are they all the same??

What you have is defined by the model of car you put in then the year of it and it should come up with a choice of units. As I have the Pro 2 I forgot there was an older one but it doesnt show when I put my vehicle in.

Both units would take the same map and you can check by going to the version information page in your unit and it will give the map details

I down loaded the file, do I then unzip it and extract the specific files I need to an SD card or do I load all the unzipped file in its entirety onto a SD card and then update.

You have the file on your computer Put an SD card in and Unzip it TO THE CARD. Put it in car and wait for it to find the map.

It really makes a difference if I copy the unzipped files from the computer instead of unzipping them to the SD card? I must admit I am curious as to why not that it is any harder to do it one way or another.

One less chance of error is the probable reason. why make an extra step when you dont need to.
You can do it however you like provided the result comes out the same but for some reason I have found it doesnt always. Also takes longer to unzip to drive 40 mins and then copy to card, maybe another 20mins when it will unzipo to the card in one go

Extracting to the HDD only took about three minutes tops but I have yet to copy it to a card. The method I use to avoid any problems is to use control/A and that selects all the files to copy and can't leave any behind. I don't think much of VW's nav system and never have even in my previous car but I thought seeing as the car is four years old I had better update it anyway.

You do it how you want There is only 3 files anyway
