  • Diesel petrol cap in a petrol 2016 golf?

    Hello!

We have had our brand new 2016 TSI golf for a week now and just went to fill it up with petrol for the first time but the sticker in the petrol cap says diesel????

Does this mean they put the wrong petrol tank/ cap in the car or is it just the wrong sticker?

    We are very worried!

    Thank you!

Could just be a wrong part.

Perhaps raise it with your dealer so they can sort it out.

      ... or the wrong car...

Be interesting to hear what happened here.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Lift the bonnet and see what the letters on the engine cover say

Wouldn't it be simpler to ask how high a gear they get up to?

yeah, just look at the tachometer on the dash and it's obvious whether it's TSI or TDI. Also the sound

It would have been interesting to see where the legal decision would stand if they customer _HAD_ followed the mis-labeled cover...let's hope we'll never see who wins (hint: It's the lawyers)

Hold a match to the filler neck, if it ignites, it's not a diesel.

Just a question here: Don't diesel cars have a different filler neck vs petrol versions?I know in the past they were a diffirent size in diameter. In case they are, how would a filler cap fit on different size filler neck?? They would have to be different or .... 😕 unless discrimination caught up with them and have be equal 😂

There's been horror stories of people puting petrol inside diesel cars, but not the other way around. So yes, if they have a petrol Golf, it SHOULDN'T fit the standard diesel filler. (Ignoring the "large truck" nozzles that don't fit anything! (bar large trucks...))

In the US, the large diesel pumps won't work without an adapter.
