Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

OK so I've just placed my order now.

It's funny I bought a new car as I was spending a lot of money maintaining my car and since I bought this car, I haven't stopped spending money on it for different reasons. Haha

Thanks for arranging the group buy "urxtream".

Is anyone who ordered a JB1 thinking of getting someone to fit it for them. I know that it is supposed to be pretty straight forward but I'm just worried about Plug D as I don't have access to a ramp so it could be difficult to get underneath the car. Also having to remove the engine under tray looks a bit fiddly as well.

You have half a chance getting to plug D of you have a Gti, zero if you have an R. 40min job top which includes the jacking and tray removal and that was my first go.

I'm in the same boat but I'm gonna give it a shot coz you gotta remove the JB1 when you bring it in for service anyways so might as well get accustomed to how to install/remove it

A BIG thank you to AutoInstruct for offering this group buy discount and also to everyone that has listed their names down for a unit. Could not have done it without your inputs/orders. Perhaps we could do this again when a new performance mod is released? :p

What's the reason that you zero chance on the "R" but not on the "GTI" out of interest?

Yes that's true, don't want to have to get someone to unistall it everytime that you go for a service.

There is more piping in that area, partly because the R intercooler is larger than a Gti

Maybe I should edit post to very minimal chance rather than zero

Many thanks to urxtream for getting this deal afloat. All happened in the blink of an eye. Ordered mine last night within 15 mins of your PM and then this morning, confirmation that it was in the mail (tracking number advised). Should be up and running early next week! Will keep you posted.

I've done mine before without lifting the car. It's a little more difficult (depending how big your head is!).

Best tip I can offer for Plug D, push a flat screwdriver into the opposite end to the wires, and it will unclip very easily. The splash shield itself removable in about 5 minutes with a torx screwdriver

A big thank you to you as well for organising this. Maybe we could do one in the future for P3 gauges if there was enough interest.

So are people that submit interest before the 26th still able to get in on the group buy?

I shall release the coupon codes to the people next in line if there is still stock by tomorrow morning. I think this is only fair to people in the queue who are ready to place an order. What do you guys think?
