Also unless I've missed it, is there an approx delivery date?

AutoInstruct currently has 9 units in stock and more stock planned to meet the demand. Stock will be dispatched immediately after confirmation of payment and should be received by the purchaser within a week. A standard invoice will be provided to each individual purchaser since AutoInstruct is a small business and fall under the tax threshold at this point in time. They don't actually collect GST, that's why their prices are 10% cheaper.
There are 3 plugs that need to be connected. If you have a Golf R you need to access the third from underneath the car. If you have a GTI (not sure about the clubsport) you can apparently reach all the plugs from the top. I'll hopefully know what the truth is sometime next week
It needs to be connected to work. If you take it off, your car goes back to totally stock. The JB1 is an piggyback style unit. This means that it intercepts the signals running between the engine and ECU and modifies them as required before sending them on their way. The ECU thinks it's talking directly to the engine, and the engine thinks it's being instructed by the ECU only.
The really attractive part of all this is that you can remove it and its very difficult to tell the car was ever tuned. Nothing is changed on the ECU, so no "naughty flags" are set for the dealer to screw you over with. The plan is to take mine off for each service.
Ok cool, hopefully I can connect them all from the top then as I don't fancy having to get underneath the car and fiddle about.
That's good to know, I'll do the same when it comes to service time.
