But as you'd know from the Mk6 (or maybe not if you were only at stage 1 there based on the sig) these cars do respond well to the downpipe mod, so given your choice of car and driving style I'd say do it.

He is very experienced and fairly well known in the VW/Audi/Porsche arena in Sydney. I'm not saying I'm gonna trust everything that he tells me. I'll suss it out when I see him to get the 034 done.

You have a very good eye...yeah the OZ wheels are very rigid and light. Since my car is N/A, there's not much I can do to gain power. So weight saving it was...exhaust is lighter by about 2-3kgs, wheels are lighter by about 4kg each corner. The BMC air filter + the Captristo exhaust is music to my ears

Just placed an order on a 034Motorsport Dogbone mount. I'm considering doing the CTS Turbo Intake and Downpipe too. Thoughts or experiences?

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the 034 dogbone mount after it is installed. I looked at these and ended up going for the BFI instead (road version). Mainly I guess as I could relate to the idea of a PU infill material as opposed to a cast alloy device. The BFI one was softer than I expected, being more like a stiff rubber compound than poly urethane if that makes sense. I was expecting a stiff plastic type of device, but it isn't. Installing it was simple enough, but you could feel the material deforming slightly installing it (you need to wiggle the original mount a little to get the two "ends" of the mount in place correctly. A quick snip of the torque wrench and it's done.

I can feel the difference in the shifts even in the R, but as grip is not an issue with them, it didn't suffer from any wheel hop or the like beforehand, so nothing to report there.

At idle, it is absolutely same as standard, so seems to do what it advertises.

I am tempted to try (for comparison) the performance version of the BFI mount, as it is stiffer PU material. I am interested to see if it makes even more noticeable difference to the changes (maybe not, even during spirited road driving - perhaps on tracks only), and if it vibrates at idle (as suggested it may do).

Thee must be a fine line in material stiffness between vibrations at idle transmitted into the cabin, versus it not happening.

I've just been told there's two versions of the 034 - street / track density. I wonder what the difference is!

In a bid to correct the swirl marks left on the bonnet and roof of my 40ED by the dealer and to generally get to know my car more intimately I spent 3 1/2 hours last night detailing her. Thanks to the advice from Pierre and the team at Car Care Products (Sydney) I can report that I was able to remove pretty much every mark on the car and am extremely happy with the results especially seeing as it was the first time I had clay barred a car. Unfortunately the photos from my iPhone make it look very pink than the red it is.

I used the mint all purpose cleaner first to remove the dealer polish and everything else then used the dodo juice clay bar and born slippy clay bar lubricant to remove any other contaminants which made the surface super slick, I then used the Duragloss 601 polish bonding agent which gets applied and not buffed then applied the Duragloss 105 total performance polish and buffed until it became super shiny, very happy with the result.

I've got mine booked for full paint correction check & opti-coat at Reflect Effect next week. Will also be doing window tints at the same time.

Can't wait... I was driving again last night (randomly drove to Engadine.. because why not...) and felt a little 'naked' without tints!

Picked mine up from "Definitive Car Detailing" today. I told my dealership to NOT machine polish my car, so no blemishes aside from some glue residue.

I opted for "Brila" on the paintwork and rims/calipers and Opti-coat products for the rest of the interior,door-jams, glass & engine-bay. Also put some PPF on the B-pillars and Headlights to stop swirl marks/scratches. Now it looks ultra clean and shiny, better than when I picked it up from the dealer.

Picked up my gti40 yesterday - I was not prepared for how light the clutch is! Also oil temp runs over 100c - which seems hotter than my previous mk6 when it was stock - I assume it's normal and prevents the oil bunking up with unburnt fuel and other such deposits?

Not sure if there in the 40year but on the R the Clutch spring delete and the bleeder valve change works wonders.

Oil temp normal, in winter mine hovers around 106

Was it fitted correctly and version 2? No vibrations and I'm running JB1 with Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Hi there xssiiv. Yes it was correctly fitted and version 2. The vibrations were minor, mostly occurred during start and inititial acceleration. Although only minor, I felt it took away part of the beautiful smoothness of the car so that's why I had it removed. It probably wouldn't bother most people.
