Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ^^^ Glad to hear you guys got sorted too

My dealer promised my allocation weeks ago ... but they were so confident in their promise it made me think they were just rolling the dice!

I also ordered white + roof in manual.

Was also told mid-late Sep delivery, Sydney metro.

Info/link on the map? Does it get rid of the silly-boost function?

I got 3.99% from VW finance. Tried for 2.8% but it did not apply the 40th.

APR would have he map as it is an R engine, so there's no real development to do.

Oh what that's an awesome deal. I didn't even get to that stage as they had already sold it to someone else.

I don't know. In terms of engine potential/capabilities yes they're the same obviously but the Clubsport's silly-boost needs to be ditched for sure and anything suiting the AWD power delivery would have to be adapted for the FWD. A Cupra 290 remap seems closer to the Clubsport's map.

here is the link to the APR software update - there is some interesting commentary about the high torque version and the standard clutch maybe not being up to the job - anyone here had any experience with the standard clutch not handling an extra ~100NM of torque?

The DQ250 DSG clutches are generally considered to be good for 500-550Nm as long as you're not driving like a tool 24/7 (and even if you are there's a good chance they'll still be fine). The manual clutch is more susceptible to wear depending on your driving style, but if you're careful and not brutal it'll comfortably withstand stage 1 torque (and stage 2). A sufficiently-poor driver will have no trouble burning out a stock clutch on a stock car in no time.

From what I've seen in forums DSG has been fine up to at least stage 2. Manuals have reported some clutch slip even with stage 1 on the GTI.

Sorry AdamD I have to agree with ringo, a lot of the reports I've seen is to the same effect - the manual clutch isn't really able to handle the Stage 1 tune long-term. Hence why APR offers a low-torque Stage 1 tune. There's no reason to offer a low torque tune unless you're frying clutches!
