Got round to looking at the tyres for you. They appear to be "mid range" P Zero. From TireRack -



After 800ks they seem to have quitened down somewhat. Must have worn the "tits" off them.

I had a set of P Zeros on a 2013 Boxster and I complained to the dealer about the noise. They didn't get any quieter and needed to warm up before you got good traction especially in winter. I hope my ED40 has a better compound.

My choice would always be Michelin Pilot Sports, sensational tyre cold, hot, wet or dry.

You mean Pilot Sport 3/4 or Pilot Super Sport? I was almost ready to order a set of Super Sports for mine and throw them on the first week as the Potenzas in this car are very average and the Pirellis not too great either but the first MY2017 that have started rolling out of the factory recently, at least the ones with 18" Belvederes on, now come wrapped in Continental SportContact 5. Still not MPSS equivalent but at least an improvement over both the Bridgestones and the Pirellis. So I'll hold and see what the car actually comes on before placing an order.

They were Pilot 3's. I have Goodyear Eagle F1's on my GTI, 235/35/19 on 8 1/2" wide rims and they are excellent. Nearly as good as the Michelins.

Yes, those are good as well. Based on reviews seems that PS4 that succeeded PS3 are F1 equivalent, but PSS still one league above. Although if the car came with either PS3/4 or F1 or SportContact 5 I'd not bother. It's just that Bridgestones are so average and I've seen first hand how important is a top tyre for these cars, trasnforms them in every possible traction aspect.

My MKIV R32 came with Goodyear Eagle F1 as standard, one of the better tyres in 2004.

I pre-ordered a Clubsport in pure white manual +sunroof! Should be here by mid-Sept according to my dealership. It'll be my first VW so I'm pretty excited I'm coming from a mildly modded Mazda Rx-7 FD.

Just received confirmation that my order of a ED40 manual with roof in carbon steel has been all sorted. Eta September. Very excited. APR already have a map available for it.
