Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Interesting read. I'm planning on getting the MK7.5 GTI, any idea which wheels are the "18-inch ‘Milton Keynes’ alloy wheels" the article refers to?

    • Hey jjjones i found that going onto uk vw website and using the configure your car option gives a good idea what your ideal car will look like
as to color and wheel look
tho i think prices should be out in early may so configure should be up for au site then

      • I had a look at the UK site but the "Milton Keynes" wheels aren't listed as an option for the GTI. Tried Googling them to no avail. Maybe a new design?

Edit: Found them. Pretty similar to the Mk7 wheels: Volkswagen Qatar - New Cars, SUVs, Sedan, Buy VW Vehicles

Im confused now. Your first link shows wheels that are different to your second link? The second link shows the "Parker" wheels on the GTI which seems to be the wheels you see on all videos/images etc. But your first link shows wheels ive never seen before.

Im going to be so angry if we get ****ty wheels...

EDIT: OK i found a larger photo of the wheels...

They seem to be Austins but without the black accents. Not sure how i feel about them.

          • Your eyes (or PC monitor) are better than mine - I couldn't tell them apart! If those ^ are the new wheels I'll be disappointed. Preferred the Austins with black accents.

            • Ick, those look hideous. I really hope they come as options here. The wheels that were on show at the New York auto show look a lot nicer. I'll see if I can dig up a pic.

                  • The 19 inch 40th edition wheels are a option and some of the best looking wheels imo
Would get them on my alltrack if they let me

                    • Got home from work and done some checking
the large 5 thick spoke wheels are 18 inch standard fitment for gti a bit meh looking tbh

The ones in the post from Olle are the 19,s called
Brescia and are the same as gti 40th anv edition vry nice wheels

Also coming is Santiago which is also 19inch and a vry messy looking wheel to much for me anyway

                      • I found a video of a mk7 with what seems to be the "Milton Keynes" wheels... Im praying that VW will allow us to pick different wheels.

I think you might be mistaken. To my knowledge those wheels in that clip look to be 17" Brooklyn's. The Milton Keynes wheels (aka Parker in the UK), have the black inlay and aren't to dissimilar from Austin's.

Anyhow you can check it out in the German catalogue in the wheels section.

                            • That looks a lot better to me than the Brooklyn's. Can live with that but will check with my local dealer if I can upgrade to the 19' Brescia (I think that is the wheels vw use on the clubsport 40)

                              • Having seen the German configurator, I now think the Milton Kenes rims look great. Much relieved.
