FWIW, my wife has just been told by a salesman at a major Canberra VW dealer, that they'll be attending a staff training session about Golf updates on 04 April.

    Getting closer!

From the link below, sounds like the cars will arrive early July for the base models and early August for the GTI and R variants. Can't wait to see some of the reviews and details from abroad in the meantime!

92 TSI is gone and Trendline and Comfortline will now get the 110 TSI engine. Sadly no 1.5 EVO will make it to Australia.

Was in at a dealership today and the sales guy showed me the specs for the 7.5 Golf.

All Golf hatch models get the same 110TSI petrol engine. Didn't check the specs on the diesel but from reports this is the same 110TDI as current.

Golf Alltrack gets the same 132TSI with 6 speed DSG and 4motion.

However the big news is that there is now a top of the range Alltrack 135TDI with 7 speed DSG. Not sure of the specs on the DSG but it may be the DQ500 (same as Tiguan). If it is it sounds like an interesting combination.

And last thing the sales guy said was that VW were changing their approach and going for a premium for the people (rather than going head-on price war with Mazda/Hyundai/etc). So don't expect these MY7.5 Golfs to come cheap but they will be better spec'd than the competition now.

2017 Volkswagen Golf 7.5: Australian details

Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims are offered with the Driver Assistance Package, which adds adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, park assistant, proactive occupant protection system, and selectable driving modes with personalisation function.

Comfortline and Highline models can be optioned with the Infotainment Package, which includes the 12.3-inch Active Info digital instrument display, Discover Pro 9.2-inch satellite navigation system with gesture control and voice control (pictured above), along with a 400W Dynaudio Excite audio system with 10-channel digital amplifier and subwoofer.

Highline variants can also be specified with the sporty R-Line package, which adds sportier R-Line exterior and interior treatments, 18-inch ‘Sebring’ alloy wheels, progressive steering, sports suspension and privacy glass.
                GOlf 110TSI

Kicking off the range is the 110TSI, which comes fitted as standard with air-conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, leather multi-function steering wheel, an 8.0-inch ‘Composition’ touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear-view camera, and multi-function driver’s display.

Also standard is Volkswagen’s Extended Electronic Differential Lock (XDL), city autonomous emergency braking (AEB), 16-inch alloy wheels, 16-inch ‘Hita’ alloy wheels, LED daytime-running lights, LED tail-lights, seven airbags, driver fatigue monitor, along with multi-collision brake assist.

The entry-level Golf features a standard six-speed manual transmission, with a seven-speed DSG available as an option.

Next up is the 110TSI Trendline, available in hatchback or wagon bodies. In addition to the features included in the 110TSI, the Trendline gets automatic headlights and wipers, automatically-dimming rear-view mirror, front and rear parking sensors, 16-inch ‘Toronto’ alloy wheels, manual front seat lumbar adjustment, rear centre armrest with cup holder. The wagon version gets black roof rails and a luggage partition net.

A six-speed manual is again the standard shifter for the hatch, with a seven-speed DSG available at extra cost. The self-shifter is offered as standard with the wagon.

Third in the range is the 110TSI Comfortline, which adds dual-zone climate control with Air Care filtration, ‘Discover Media’ 8.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, 17-inch ‘Dijon’ alloy wheels, ‘Comfort’ front seats, chrome interior and exterior highlights, storage drawer under the front passenger seat, and a 12V outlet in the boot. The wagon also gains chrome roof rails.

Over the Comfortline, the Highline gains front fog lights, ‘Comfort Sport’ front seats, vienna leather-appointed upholstery with heated front seats, electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and electric lumbar support, power folding mirrors with memory function, keyless entry and start, and 17-inch ‘Karlskoga’ alloy wheels.

There are more lashings of chrome throughout the interior and exterior, along with ambient lighting, LED reading lights and front footwell lighting, carpet floor mats, LED headlights for low- and high beam, colour multifunction driver’s display and a panoramic glass sunroof.

VW Is introducing a price leading Alltrack 132TSI to sit under the now 132TSI/135TDI Premium

Overall it looks like diesel is exiting the Golf range here as its only available on the most expensive models.

My M13 Golf Mk7 TDI Highline was the only diesel available. There's no exiting, they've done the homework and know those who like diesels generally are willing to pay for it. They do this by removing options usually available in other countries (eg. NZ)

Nice to see the AllTrack available in TDI format...

There may not be an exit today but it can't be far off given the push across major cities overseas to ban diesel cars from city centres and the UK looking at diesel 'scrappage' schemes.

Given the general idiocy of Australians in handing the cancerous Greens a decent foothold in politics here I wouldn't be surprised if there was an eventual push here for the same.

                        - for Alltrack premium, the optional sports pack can be ordered without the sunroof, for the same price.

note on highlines: the led headlights are not directional/dynamic, only performance and alltracks specified get dynamic headlights

pricing is yet to be confirmed.
I base these guesstimate prices on additional features each trim level gains, on the current rrp for MY17 before orc,

110tsi add up to $ 1500- adds alloys, (led tails, led drl, bigger motor front assist/ceb : applies to all trims)
trendlines add up to $1500- adds loadthru provision, lumbar support
comfort line add up to $1500- adds 17 inch alloys
highline add up to $4000- adds sunroof, led headlights, electric drivers seat with memory, colour mfd, pwer fold door mirrors
                        highline tdi- add $2500

drivers assist pack for fwd golfs- $1800- adds lane assist & personalisation
                        infotainment pack- $3000
                        rline pack- $2400

                        alltrack 132tsi expect b4 orc $34490 - maybe driveaway $37490
it doest have compareed to premiums: leather, navigation led headlights, floormats, colour mfd

alltrack 132tsi premium- $1500- adds over current alltrack- colour mfd, led headlights.
                        alltrack 135tdi premium - add $2500 over 132tsi premium

drivers assist pack for alltracks- $2200 - adds active info, lane assist.
infotainment pack for alltrack- $ 3000 - expect $500 deduction when info pk & drive assist pk combined
sports lux pack- $3000 - adds elec drivers seat with memory, pwer fold door mirrors

Remember this is a guess to guide.

deals will be there to be had on current runout mk7 golfs , and these new ones will have much less negotiation for the first 6 months i think

                          • Sounds like the current model with a jb1 fitted. Nice... bigger screen looks awesome. Not sure about the dash but need to see one in the flesh. No doubt it will be great too...

I'm sure there will be room for negotiation. They're not going to sell everything at RRP

                              • I could not wait put down a holding deposit on a 135kw diesel alltrack in red

ticked all options boxes so 50k,ish on road i am thinking?

expensive yes but worth it in my opinion which is all that matters as i am buying for myself

Anybody comment on extended 2 year vw factory warranty?

Is it worth the 1750 they will try to sting me for it for the peace of mind?

Will try to crunch on price but am not expecting a huge discount this early in model cycle

Am chuffed with the infotainment package tho esp like the drivers screen and dynaudio sound system, plan was to take it straight in to have speakers upgraded after purchase but now no longer required
