I’ve done 3,500 kilometres on my Wolfsburg wagon and when washing it yesterday I came across these marks on the rear left disk. They look possibly like cracks. Has anyone seen this before? I’ll be taking it in to VW on Wednesday
I think those marks are left by the pad edge fairly sure they're not cracks, they should go after driving. If I wash the car with cold brakes I don't apply the park brake after washing the car because the water can cause the pads to stick to the disc particularly if not driven for a few days. If you want to apply the park brake best drive a bit after washing the car.
Thanks for that. Here’s hoping. I did think that it might be where the pad has stuck but even after a spirited drive today with heavy braking the marks are the same.
Some R owners have seen this on rears and is said to be from ACC - mine are ok after 6000km .. will be nice to find out results from the workshop report. Keep us posted pls

Local dealer said it isn’t covered by warranty as it has been caused by “external influences”. I basically said I don’t accept that explanation and have referred it to VW Australia who have now taken carriage of it. The dealer is pretty certain it isn’t a crack. I believe that is is a defect in the disk and although it doesn’t appear to affect braking, I am not happy with it at only 3,500 km for a so called performance model
