Does seem possible, and thank you for getting those part numbers. I did actually find out today about the controllers needed for blind spot, and adding those won't be to hard but its more the wiring and re-programming which will be the biggest issue.

None-the-less, still definitely interested in some folding mirrors

Wiring won't be that difficult, it would simply be power and canbus to both units. The most difficult part would be calibration and convincing the VW dealer that your DAP1 car should be programmed for DAP2.

Maybe you can help me with this issue. Yesterday my friend changed his driver door controller to 5Q0 959 593 A to be able to have mirror lights retrofited (not whole folding mirrors) since his original door controller doesn't have the pin for mirror lights. I was able to code that new unit with coding from my car since I have the same controller and enable the mirror lights that finally works.
Problem is with controls in drivers door that it works in exact same operation like to open window he need to flip switch up instead of down, doors close and open button is reversed etc. but only for drivers door, controlly other windows from drivers door works fine.

As far as I know the controller was previously used in Audi S3, so is there any other configuration in VCDS that needs to be done? Coding and all adaptations was configured from my mk7 Highline so I have no clue what other I can do. Thanks!

Okay so I'm just looking at doing this modification myself, I've got the part numbers all ready at my dealership and pricing - I just want to make sure that the Door Controllers are going to work.

In my MY15 Built14 R-Line I have Door control units:
5G0 959 593 D
5G0 959 592 D

Has anyone been able to retrofit with these control units? Or with an R-line for that matter?

Hi everyone, Adam in parts at South yarra volkswagen was kind enough to look up folding mirror parts no.'s required for cars with blind spot monitoring (DAP2)

Here are the part no.'s for mirrors and switch.
LHS-5G2 857 507 CC 9B9
RHS-5G2 857 508 AK 9B9
Switch-5G0 959 565 AJ ICX

Mirror is $303+GST
Switch is $73+GST

He is not sure if controllers are needed. Are these 3 parts enough to make my mirrors fold without loosing the existing tilt function on left side mirror during reverse!
Please advice if I need anything else or if I am wrong

Hi MRG_AU, have you managed to retrofit the powered mirror for DAP II successfully? I'm looking to have this done so I checked with my dealer and he says VWA can't order this in, I will have to contact VW Germany and get it shipped privately. Is this true?

I have not done this yet. I am sure Adam in south yarra can order them for you, he told me he has to order them from VW Germany as special order. He was very confident about getting them in 2 weeks from the date of order.

iwhy: Hi. Just a hunch, but it sounds like the driver's side control module is set-up for RH drive! What was the setting on Byte 5 of the door control module (address Hex42)? In your country where I assume that cars are not RH drive, the value of Byte 5 should be hex00 (i.e. bit 0 should be 0)

Thanks MRG. Good to know the story lines up. I will see if my dealer is willing to order them from Germany on my behalf, otherwise it would be great if you could hook me up with Adam to help me out. What was the reason for you not going ahead with this mod just yet?

Hi juniorgold, got too busy at work and with other commitments so I did not get time to proceed with this mod. "Lazy". Now that you have spiked my interest on this mod, I spoke to my local dealer in Canberra and they said they can get them for me as a back order but I will go see them coming Monday and double check what I currently have in the car and the new parts I mentioned suits perfectly and comply dap2. I will update soon after that assessment.
