Tasty. These look like an OEM fit so I've assumed the specs above, but these wheels come in more aggressive fitments as well.

Specs not confirmed, best guess included- GTI was a PP that had the Santiagos swapped out.

Note: not a legal fitment in Australia

The Rays VRG2 19x8.5 +45 should not be a legal issue at for the mk7 fender design. Especially with the GTI which uses 225 35 19 rubber, the will be tucked in inside the fender.

I have the Rays VR G2 18x8 +50 which is very conservative fitment and trouble free. Will use this set when I get my mk7 R one day

Not a cheap set though being forged wheels

These are MTMs trademark wheels in a variety of sizes, widths and offsets specifically for VAG vehicles - so something suitable should be possible. Looks similar to an OZ Ultraleggera.

Thanks for the tip. Everyone's seems to have differing opinions on what will and won't fit. These would be 19mm extra poke over Santiagos and 17mm over (18 inch) Austins, which seems to be pushing it. Hopefully as more wheel mods happen on the Mk7s, particularly locally, we can get some better ideas on what's perfectly legal v what pushes the boundaries.

            • And often fitting wheels with more aggresive but legal offset and width, at stock height they may poke. Once lowered they will be tucked in due to increased natural camber (front suspension).

Agreed, but a recommendation was made early on to exclude suspension and fender work from establishing what is and isn't legal. I think on wheels that would likely be legal in a lowered state I will change the wording to 'may' from 'will' not fit.

Thanks for the input, this thread needs more of it.

                • Get wheels on new golf replaced on the spot for aftermarket rims

Hi guys, I'm taking delivery of a brand new Golf Mk7 90TSI on Thursday. I'm really really happy with the car, minus the steel rims. I've heard that there are companies who can come to the dealer and take the stock rims and tyres and replace them with the tyres and rims that I want. Does anyone know of anyone who can do this? and also how much the stock tyres and steel rims are worth?

(I know I can get factory alloys, but they are just too expensive)

                  Comment

                  • The steel rims would be worth next to nothing, the tyres worth what as new tyres in that size sell for second hand. You'd be better off organising this yourself, can't imagine you'd get a good deal ex dealer.

As for factory alloys, they often are overpriced but at least they're strong. Check out parts for sale for some good 17 and 18 inch options with tyres that are sharply priced. Alternately flip through the wheel thread for some ideas.

Don't be swayed by cheap Chinese made rims on the web - you kinda get what you pay for.

The Salvador is fitted to Golfs with the R-Line option in Europe - assume the same applies here? Would guess they'd be around an offset of 50 - make that ET51 confirmed. Can be bought new from Germany but around $2,000, would be cheaper options available or possibly dealers bringing them in for less.

Haven't really heard much about this German brand until I came across these pics, the car also had a vinyl wrap on the roof, proving that a black and white theme will still work just as well on the Mk7 as ever before. These would set you back around $1,300 plus freight, duties and taxes ex the UK.

That's a lot of wheel and very little rubber. These are the originals of the reps posted here: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1051329 . Seems to be some conflicting information on the offsets, needless to say you may have some issues with fitment without some work to make it legal. As stated before the Vossens don't come cheap, but they are a clean quality wheel.

I think there's a point where things get to big - I like to perve on low profile as much as the next guy, but I like to go back home at night on 18s/19s.

                              • The Vossen CV3's really need a big brake upgrde otherwise they just make the standard brakes look tiny.

                                Easy to clean though.
