Window Tinting for the Mk7

Hold the phone, he now says he can do them, but usually doesn't. So when I know more about when the car is arriving I'll book him in and he says he'll start with the small ones. If it's not going well I'll pull the plug.

IIRC they usually have to make up a special tool to get into the small gap to do the small 1/4 windows. Some have tried removing the A pillar trim to improve access, but that risks breaking clips and/or introducing buzzes/rattles. That's why many tinters don't want to do them (too fiddly). The one on the driver's side is useless for any extra visibility anyway.

So things didn't go well, he was not able to do the small window, no tool and forgot how difficult it was to access, and I really see the problem now that I have the car.

I'll be dropping it off next Thursday. They sold me on the tint over the phone. I'll let you know how it goes.

The tinting was done today and it looks like an excellent job. Just gotta wait for it to completely dry, but we are already looking cooler from the outside.

They did the small front window too, no dramas.

Saved me a trip to Sydney as well!
