Worth mentioning Dave @ Reflect Effect near Parramatta. He only works from his workshop but does very good work and has been servicing car enthusiasts for years. He also does paint correction, OptiCoat and anti-chip film. It was actually great having him look at my car as he picked up on some imperfections on the black roof which he sorted out.

For my 40ed he applied a 45% Ceramic tint to the front windows to approximate the privacy glass. Also did the A-pillar windows (even laughed when I mentioned there are some tinters out there that wouldn't do it).

Worth noting the ceramic tint is neutral in color whereas the privacy glass has a cool tinge to it. Not noticeable to me day-to-day unless I stare for it. Not sure that I would use a cool-shaded tint on the front windows even if given the choice as it would make colors look different vs. looking through the front window.

I have my new 92Tsi Comfortline (which i'm loving, btw) booked in with Tom next week. I do have a question which I forgot to ask. I am getting the premium IR and I'm concerned about whether or not this would interrupt any radio/gps signal? Anyone know?

Tinting pano sunroof

Hey guys

Geting a panoramic sunroof with my new wagon thinking of tinting it nice and dark has anyone done this and what is the result like?

Never done, it but know the guy who tinted one of my other cars usually included it. I have heard stories where it is not advisable due to them shattering, but never quite sure if that is an old wives tale. The standard tint in them has always been fine for me.

I tinted the pan roof on my R wagon, mainly to block out heat as it gets hot in summer. No issues so far.

The cabin is quite dark so I have the visor open all the time. But like Woofy the standard tint's been fine for me too.

I think the main reason is because the wagon pano is so much larger than the hatch version my wife has a polo with the pano and its fine but the wagon version is sooo much bigger

My tint was not dark, i just picked one with lots of heat rejection. The roof is pretty dark as is.

Thread mine!

I have a tint guy, but when I found out he didn't do the small front windows I am now looking for alternatives in Canberra.

Did anybody find a great place that can do the whole job in Canberra?

Hold the phone, he now says he can do them, but usually doesn't. So when I know more about when the car is arriving I'll book him in and he says he'll start with the small ones. If it's not going well I'll pull the plug.
