Cars going great thank you, nearly over the 1K mark in just over a week.

Taking up the coast tomorrow so get a little bit of nice highway driving in.

Yes we did get corp, but you can believe whatever you want. This will be the 4th vehicle we have bought from them.

Sorry if I sounded accusatory, wasn't my intention, was just curious about how you got your pricing. Now that you mentioned the discount/long relationship, it makes more sense. Great price IMO! I guess it pays to have a good relationship with a dealer/salesperson.

I wonder how much profit they make considering they can cut it down by so much.

It's alright mate. Yes they gave us an awesome price, which is why they got another sale

I now have a very impressive red DSG GTI. Felt bad farewelling GTD as it is indeed a very good car. GTI feels like it's going to be fun and I'm sure I will soon get over the shock of the obscene amount of dosh that I handed over.
Strange that in all of the swatting I've been doing on the Mk 7, I have not seen anywhere the quite significant difference between the door size of the 7 vs the 6. The Mk 7 is far easier to get in and out of than the Mk 6. This is good for those of us with ageing bodies and weakening muscles!

At the moment a rough guide for a good price is the list price but drive away (ie the discount is about the same as on road costs, or 10%ish)

Has anyone switched off their Soundaktor? Loving the car but not overly keen on the 'gravelly' engine note at low revs. Would be interested to know if there's a difference once it's turned off/removed.

I've been highly recommended Marty at FHRX. My GTI will be going straight to him once it arrives.

At this stage it will either get a Focal iBus 2.1 and my Rainbow Germaniums or something a bit beefier amp wise and a 8 or 10" sub

I too wish there was a Dynaudio option, but after searching for second hand Mk6's (plenty), then searching using the same parameters and the keyword "Dynaudio", i'd get about 5% of the results. And out of those cars, half of them didn't actually have Dynaudio upgrades, the owners were just ticking random boxes because they thought the sound system sounded good. You see why VW didn't bring it here. Very few people actually bought it. I tried to buy an Eos back in 09 with Dynaudio, couldn't find anything.

I didn't end up getting there unfortunately. I took delivery of the car unexpectedly early (like 3 months early!). One point i haven't mentioned is that i was purchasing the car in Sydney (where i work during the week) but i now live in Adelaide. I had to get the car back there and the ONLY weekend i was free to drive it down was the same week i picked it up. This meant i didnt have time to get it squeezed in/products ordered etc..

One point i will make, although its just an observation, they are INCREDIBLY thorough with their installs - i.e. run cabling through factory wiring looms etc.. This all takes a lot of time. Where i am heading with this - expect the job of a replacement audio system to take a long time (and time costs money).

I'm probably going to have to find someone in Adelaide to do the work now, but my enthusiasm to even do the upgrade is getting lower by the minute due to the fact that my young son and wife are with me most of the time when i'm driving it and thus won't get a chance to enjoy the sound system.

Yes did it on MK6 , much quieter interior , you soon realise the aktor is very fake .

Just drop the window when pushing on for the real sound , another bonus is you get to hear the loverly turbo whistle .

So early last month I ordered a New mark 7 GTI with DSG and Bi Xenons, and was told it would be a factory order and that I would be able to find out next month - December when the build date is. I have now called and been told that they can see the build date is on the system .. they have no idea when they will know ..

I was not happy with this so I called Volkswagen no assist, who told me they cant see the ordering system unless I have a VIN,

Told they cant help ... how long should it take to get a build date any idea ...

Spikeyboy, I'm in the same boat (which makes me feel slightly better as up to this point I thought I was alone). I'm just chasing my dealer and hoping to have it resolved by xmas

I don't think they can help you with dates until it has actually been built and generated a VIN. Once you have that they should be able to track it and you can also follow it once it's on the boat (usually 6+ weeks) to Australia. Then needs to clear customs etc. When I ordered my GTI it took 6-8 months from memory before it arrived at my dealer. I think it will take quite a few weeks before it is built. Wait will be worth it though.
