I think you are right Pologti18t because I dont think he knows otherwise why would he be on the VW facebook page asking them only 30 mins ago if they will bring the performance pack .. maybe they forgot to put that in the press pack and he thought he should check ..

No press pack released hard copy either, they just wanted to show us the car, finally in Australia. It was more of a celebration than a launch/info event. All they're saying is its cheaper. There, one cold hard fact!

Mick, there were two threads that are now combined into this one

I think I've worked out why everyone is saying that the rear is bland, and it's to do with the lights. On the front, the xenons polarise people because of the red line. Fair enough.

It also looks like we've been stinged on the rear ones too. On UK/Euro spec models, the indicator light is this cool LED line that cuts through the entire set of lights. Here, they appear to be the same as on the regular golf models. I think it's the main reason we think the rear looks so bland (and didn't mention this previously when looking at photos from overseas).

There's a chance you get the rear LED's when you option the Xenons. If not, it'll be the same popular retrofit as it was for the mk6 GTI.

They will be the standard reflector type ones.
The LED's are kept for the R and special edition (adidas/Ed35) ones.

I believe that was a VW Germany decision for the MK6, ie no VW division could spec a normal GTI with rear LEDs from the factory. The MK7 GTI its available standard in most of Europe with rear leds ie VW division can decide to spec it or not, or make it available with the pack.
