After months of kicking tyres at vw dealers finally took the plunge and got a white dsg R initially was looking at the GTi but surpisingly my wife (i thought i was dreaming lol) talked me into getting the R. Picked it up yesterday and absolutely love it - no regrets whatsoever

When trying to decide between a Passat and a Golf Alltrack, my wife told be I could get an R Wagon. I almost fell over. In the end cooler heads prevailed - including mine - and now I have an Alltrack in the garage. It was a Sunday and dealerships are closed then in Queensland. Maybe I should have taken a hammer to the nearest window and handcuffed myself to a chair, credit card in hand and begged them to take my money quickly... anyway, enjoy your ride.

The MY16s come with Continental ContiSportContact 5P tires. I have them on mine and they're really excellent. I've had Michelin Pilot Super Sports on previous cars and i would call them about the same in grip, but maybe a little bit louder with road noise. Either way, much, much better then the Bridgestone RE050s that came on the MY15s.

Just checking in... we have ordered a 110tsi highline for pickup in the new year. Can't wait.. stoked with all the stuff the my16's have.

Curious though.. does anyone know what the actual difference between the 92tsi and 110tsi engine is?

I know the compression ratio is slightly different, so there must be some differences with the internals, its not just software

From the spec sheet everything is he same except for the numbers. I think a salesman told me they had a bigger turbo, but I was hoping for something more definitive [emoji16]

Picked up my 2015 GTi manual in pearlescent black from DVG Melville a couple of weeks back. Fantastic car that just seems to get better every time I drive it. I was really impressed with DVG too, not only were they very friendly and non-pushy, but I also got a stonking deal, which included getting back all but $500 of the $15k I paid for my used Civic Type-R a year ago.

I took the GTi down to Busselton & Margaret River last week, and bombing down those winding country roads with the car in Sport mode was the most fun I've had with my pants on in a long time.

I (plus family) travelled to Bathurst to pick up my brand new MY15.5 GTI Performance on Monday. It was for my wife, so it had to be blue (Night Blue Metallic), have heated seats (Black Vienna Leather) and adaptive cruise control (DAP II). It also had a panoramic sunroof, which wasn't a 'must have', but I like sunroofs so it made this car more attractive. I also managed to get Voice Control (Voice Activation SD Card) thrown in for free - but I had to work hard for that one.

Being an MY15.5 (May 15 build and July 15 Compliance) it had the extra features of DAP II (rear traffic alert and blind spot monitoring) and the availability of the panoramic sunroof. I doubt too many MY15s would have been optioned up like this, especially in Night Blue. The price was pretty keen, but they weren't prepared to move any further. I could've held out a bit longer, but I risked losing a car that really ticked all the boxes for me.

The drive home to Sydney was great - though I only got to drive part of the trip (I was in the second car) and with family in tow I couldn't get too carried away...

Can I live without the Keyless Entry/Starter Button and Apple Carplay and Android Auto from the MY16? Probably. Can I live with the 5.8 inch screen of the Discover Media MIB I. I'm not too sure....
