The Official "I have ordered/received my new MK7 Golf" Thread
I don't care what a dealer tells me, there is no harm in wearing a car in for 1000-1500km before going hard. It'll show up any leaks or other potential problems without (hopefully) causing any damage. It also helps some parts bed in better, which a few km on a bench test won't do. My car came with 15km on the clock. That's not even close enough for me to feel comfortable driving hard. As nsavage said, don't baby it though. Give it the beans every now and then, but don't launch hard and don't redline.
I have 934km to go

Totally agree! I would stick to taking it up to 5000 RPM max now and then and avoid redlining it.
Driving it like a granny doesn't help wear it in at all though. Bear in mind that the majority of the "wearing in" on modern cars relates to rings and seals.
Here is an article worth reading. You will find similar advice all over the internet.
Pleased to report that I have just confirmed my MY16 GTI (White/manual/leather)(ordered early august) will be docking in the country November 2nd. Looks like beating my lengthy estimate of mid December by about 3 weeks.... Should be in the car in about a month I'm not sure if I stopped being excited but I sure am again now!

Nice man. Hope the next few weeks fly for you. Though, personally, im hoping for the opposite, as I'll be in holidays.
Hit YouTube for getting up to speed on the cars features (you probably have already). I watched just about every review out there in those closing days....drooled to the end.
