Hopefully you get it in a couple of weeks then. It all depends on the compliance place though.

Really? A few posts on this forum from the thousands of Mk7 Golfs sold in Australia isn't common. Mine's had none of these issues.

How long did you car sat in compliance at the port?

Hi all,

My car just landed at Port of Melbourne yesterday after 6 months of wait! Does anyone know how long it takes for it to go through compliance?

From what I read, some were 2 weeks, and some 4 weeks before it got to the dealer for delivery.

Anyone know how it all works at the port and customs?

Once the car is offloaded from the ship, it is moved into the yard of the company that performs the compliance work for VW (usually Patricks). The car may be waiting anywhere from 2-14 days (under normal circumstances) before the work is performed, which takes a very short time (under a day). It's then ready to be transported to the dealer's yard, which can take any amount of time depending on the backlog of cars waiting for delivery, the number of trucks available, the distance to the dealership, and the dealer's capacity in their yards and pre-delivery areas.

Long story short - it should take anywhere from 1-3 weeks from getting off the ship, to being at the dealership ready for pre-delivery (which can take anything from 2 days to a week).

the new car manager is nice after the deal (before he was hard to negotiate with, hahaha. joking.), but sales not really after deal is done...
sales was new so he made a mistake to my car: i ordered door scuff plates but he put down boot scuff plate instead...when i went to pick up the car the manager instantly refunded $ and left the scuff plate for free...
it looks a bit ugly but nvm...i will leave it until it peels off. lol.
