What is the going rate for the 6 year/90k service?

VW is quoting just under $1000 and that feels expensive for what seems like a fairly basic service + Haldex oil change.

I gave up on VW dealer servicing as they were always doing things and replacing parts that weren't due yet. Some things are time related, others are distance related, but my VW dealer ignored that and just did everything, whether it was due or not.

Big shout out to Harding Performance and the performance of their Golf R at this years Bathurst 6 hour, the Golf R won class A1 and finished 4th outright. A big result considering the three placed BMWs were all 3.0 L sixes.

Waiting to hear back from the dealership on the issue with our 7.5 Golf R Wagon.

Early comms doesn’t look good…” “Cylinder 3 misfire was found, swapped around spark plugs, fuel injector's and ignition coils.
Misfire was still evident, carried out a compression test on cylinder 3 and found to have 40 PSI.”

So, worst case scenario, if I need a new engine, is there anything I should look to add/modify at the same time? The rest of the car is stock, and only done 77K

60,000km seems to be the norm for most models and is part of that service

My 2018 7.5 Golf R has hit 30k km and I am wondering about the DSG service. According to this thread, it should be 120,000 kms / 8 years. Some posts (potentially overseas) say it's purely distance based. Has anyone got a definitive steer?

The DSG is due to be serviced either every 4 years / 60,000km. So given your car is a 2018 model, it "should" have already had the DSG serviced based on time a few years ago. Also important is the Haldex to be serviced and have the little filter cleaned (VW do not clean the filter).

Thanks! Log book says no for the 5 services at a VW service centre, which is why I am confused. I might need to call them tomorrow and double check. I did the Haldex last year

If the car has had “capped services” then this will explain it as they only do the bare minimum. Id be booking it in to get done as soon as your budget allows.
