Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    - similar deal, when I pull out, accelerate to about 15km and the car lurches and stops accelerating with a warning that ‘the ACC is not active’
I've only ever noticed this msg when the ACC is switched off and I press the "SET" or "RES" buttons on the steering wheel, which is fair enough. Note that AFAIK the ACC has three states:

    - Off (I have to press the ACC power button on the steering wheel to move to the Active state).
    - Active (ready to take control when you press a Set or Res button)
    - In Control (of your speed) Pressing the power button or touching the brake pedal will move back to Active.

I've never had a lurch or loss of power associated with this msg.

There are various symbols displayed at the bottom of the dash to indicate the current status of the ACC, including the current target speed.

    • How are people finding the start stop feature. Never owned a car with it and at first hated it but come to accept it now. It only really bugs me for that quick get away at the lights if you give it too much and the engine has to start and accelerate you get that kick like dropping the clutch too harshly.

Not sure if I should get it permanently disabled? Conflicting thoughts on YouTube about it causing extra wear starting and stopping all the time.

        • I’ve grown to accept it over the years and acknowledge the reason it exists. But I still don’t love it. I usually switch it off, but sometimes I can’t be bothered.

Although, mine still goes on when in race mode. That happen to anyone else? Pretty sure it’s meant to disengage when in ‘race’...

Mine seems to re-enable auto stop/start every time I switch modes. I usually disable it when I first start the engine.

              • Turning it off is part of my startup routine. Not a fan.

On a separate note, talking to VW on Monday about the rattles - hopefully its an easy fix with the Soundaktor. Really don't want them taking apart the dash..

Mine went in last Wednesday, it was the Soundaktor. All fixed now. Good luck with yours!

                  • I've noticed new rattles now coming from the right side of my drivers door/dash (haven't been able to pinpoint it yet). Could be the speaker?

Have the car booked in on Thursday, so I'm hoping they can sort it out.

Can you advise how you go with this? I get same issue as well when in Race mode. So much rattling from behind the screen.
I'm due for my first service in another 2.5k km so won't bother to get it fixed till then.

                      • Well they've acknowledged the issue but don't think it's the Soundaktor. They've got the car for the day so we'll see how we go

                        • Hey all, has anyone seen or heard the x-force cat back system? This might be my next upgrade. Picking this over invivdia as it has the varex system.

Hey Wally, keen to hear how you got on today?

Mine had the Soundaktor fix last week but there’s still rattles (left hand dash somewhere, and somewhere down behind the steering wheel, and more and more seem to pop up randomly).

And the whole car creaks! Anyone else have creaking sounds?

Yep, I get creaks as well, from the back of the car, near the back seats.

                              • Yep, they applied the fix, but still rattles. Not terrible, but not great either.

I'm not sure what to do now, because I don't think VW know what to do.
