My car is very nice, quiet and smooth on good condition hot mix, unfortunately not all Oz roads meet that high standard
Open the drivers sun visor see if it goes away, this was a problem on earlier Golf MK7s, the sun visor would tap the headlining flick it with your finger see if that is the sound you're hearing.

    • I have a buzzing from a heat shield in the engine bay (I think it’s around the turbo based on similar reports online) and a buzz from the parcel shelf. I’ll get them both looked at during the next service.

Cool - well done. Just curious, which method did you use to achieve these?

            • Anyone concerned about how well the EA888 Gen3 is built, checkout this HGP Golf R 7.5

I had a run in this car a few weeks ago the acceleration is awesome, yet the R chassis handles this power with ease. This tune is built on a stock motor.

              • Is Gen 3 engine 7.5 specific?

Is the 7.5R engine the same as the mk7, have read some differences internally?

No major engine changes between 7R and 7.5R tuned for slightly more power DSG7 delivers better economy cruising, turbo is a later revision, other changes minimal.

                  • Apologies if this has already been discussed but can anyone tell me what DSG variant is in the 7.5 R?

IIRC it is the DQ381 7 speed, wet clutch with slightly higher torque rating (420 Nm ?) than the 6 speed DSG in the Golf 7 R and GTI.

                      • DQ381 7 speed is correct. Good for 430Nm. Mk 7 has DQ250 6 speed rated to 400Nm.

DQ381 is a cracker of a gearbox. The control of it is even more impressive as it behaves like a tuned DQ250 but even better with the extra ratio to spread the transmission of the power to the axles enhancing the effect of pretty much everything compared to the Mk7. Almost worth the upgrade to a 7.5 on this basis alone.

Anyone know where to read about the turbo revisions ?
                          2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete
2008 - Mazda 2 - (Maybe my first child scared me a bit) -1998 - Wrx (modded up to but not including forged pistons)
                          1988 - Corolla TwinCam - (couldn't insure a 323 Turbo)
1967 - Tonka Tip Truck - Red with 2 inch plastic rims and a massive sand scoop.

I am not so sure there was a difference in the turbo for the 7.5. Lots of revisions for earlier models. Would like to see a source.

                              Maybe the 7.5 has the 06K 145 722T turbo instead of the06K 145 722H
                              Anyone know for sure?
