Hi I was just wondering if anybody has had problems with the comfort close using remote. For some reason my drivers side window will not fully open or close when fully depressed the window just stops as soon as I take my finger off the button (all other windows operate okay). This affects the automatic closing/ or opening using remote. I reset the window and it works for a while but then needs to be reset again. I took it into VW and they confirmed the issue but then said VW are aware of the problem but at this stage there is no fix. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they were able to get it fixed. Cheers

I also have the same problem although when I took it back to Vw, the window worked perfectly fine which is very frustrating. Vw technician said that they could not find any faults with the window and to bring it back next time it plays up.

I just keep resetting the window every time it plays up, but hopefully when I'm driving past Vw again, it plays up so I can go in and show them the problem.

Yes, happened to me today, said "Park pilot currently not available"
Restored factory settings and played around a little to no avail. Just let it be and when I used the car later on was working fine again. Seems like its just going to be one of those things cars like these will have go wrong, so much controlled by computer bound to have a few bugs now and then.

Yeah, it's not like it's stopped completely. The dealer reckons a full CAN reset can sometimes cure it but it sounds like a 'hit it and hope' approach.

Hi Gary, you might be accidentally resetting it when it is not working properly. If you manually fully open window and wait 5 seconds than close it the window will reset and work normally. VW actually know there is a problem and the service technician should just be honest and tell you there is no fix at the moment rather then not believing you. If it happens again make sure you do not fully open window

Golf R Throttle Delay?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their Golf R.

So today, i decided to have a bit of fun and hammer it from a set of lights (gating lights to a freeway on-ramp in case anyone was going to get grumpy), and a strange thing happened.

Car was in Sport mode with the ESP switched on. I left foot braked the car and throttled up to about 1,500RPM (i didn't want to use a full launch control). The lights went green, i stepped off the brake, floored the throttle and....nothing. The car literally say there, unmoving, unrevving, for a full 2+ seconds, before finally realising i had the throttle to the floor and taking off.

So - what in the world just happened? If i don't left foot brake and just floor it from a set of lights, it's much better and there's only the smallest of delays for the DSG to do it's thing.

Brake signal to the DSG.

Either use launch control or don't. They're not meant to be 'stalled up' like an auto.

For those of you interested I've ordered the BCS powervalve DP with the titanium heat wrapping directly from them. On sale now so worked out $1500 delivered. I believe it works well with APR stage 1 and no CEL.

If you look up APR stage 1 BCS on net good video review and chat about it on Audi net.

I will post up review once it arrives and gets installed, just hoping for the improved exhaust note and better response.

PS if you want that price need to mention MK7 forum. $600GBP without heat wrap, plus shipping.

1. Planning on purchasing a new Automatic golf R full options next year around February. How much should I be realistically looking at and how much can i haggle off the advertised price? On It is currently listed around $61k drive away.
Also from the past 50 posts i read, Five docks seems like a good place to start looking for the car.

2. What is all this stage 1 and stage 2 talk? Is it modifications to the vehicle to make it faster/optimise, etc?

Prices do seem to have come down a bit since the VW scandal. I paid $60 for everything except Driver Assistance Dec 2014. I'd go for a Wolfsburg if you can find one still.

Stage 1 is a computer only modification to produce more power. Revo, GIAC, APR all have these.
Stage 2 is any further modification made to exhaust system to produce more power and is usually also combined with an intake upgrade and stage 2 computer tune to take advantage of the set up.
Stage 3 is a new turbo.

I paid $60500 for fully optioned R With DSG back in Nov 14, and that was paying for leather back then. Thats NOT fleet discount either.

I got my MY16 R, fully speced, delivery in the next 7 days for 58k

I paid $54k drive-away for a manual MY16 car with window tint, roof racks and bike carrier (about $1300 for the 3).

buying soon, It's hard when you talk about price for a car on a forum because it is rarely talking about a straight cash purchase. A lot of people will be financing, trading in, salary sacrifice etc. So people may have paid less for the car, but got a harsher deal on a trade in or are paying a bit in finance as an example. There is also a $1500 corporate discount if you work at a Volkswagen approved tier 1 company which is an easy discount.

Assuming you're after a car fully optioned with window tint and on road costs, paying full cash upfront at a dealer, I'd say under $61K is a ok price if you have to order. If it's in their yard under $60K should be possible.

Ultimately, it's what you're happy to pay!
To take out the hassle of dealing with dealers I'd just go with a car broker. Dealing with dealers isn't exactly a fun experience for most.

Also, if you're getting a 2015 year car in 2016 you should be able to get a further discount happening.

EDIT: I've got to say though, it does look like the prices have come down since when I looked at the website a fully optioned R DSG is only $64K drive away. If that is their Manufacturer's recommended driveaway price (MRDP) then they must be able to go lower than what I quoted earlier.

Is it also common for R owners to modify their car to stages 1,2,3? Am i missing out by not doing so?
