Not dreaming at all. I have a MY16 DSG R (non-Wolfsburg) with sunroof, driver assist, and 5 year factory warranty ($1500 option) on order for $60.5k on road. Due to be delivered end of October. Another dealer was willing to go to $61k.
Lowest I could get a Wolfsburg edition to was about $63.5k.
Thanks for the info was much appreciated and gave me some confidence going into negotiations.
I managed to secure myself a Wolfsburg with Sunroof in LGM for November delivery for the $62k mark! Now just the long awful wait, counting the days!!
Paid $57500 plus on-road from Five Dock VW (Sydney), DSG and all options. White one was in stock already, so I got it in one week delivered. April build, means I still have to wait for APR to get their **** together so I can get the tune done.
There is a Grey one on the floor with all options, manual though. Red one is also on the floor, DSG, but no options.
Speak with Stuart, good guy, knows his stuff and is a proper car buff.

I would also recommend Five Dock, I spent some time discussing my options with Lachlan (really good guy) but unfortunately in the end they could get me the car I wanted before next year so I had to go elsewhere.
They do have a good range of Rs on the floor to peruse.
Can I ask what your OTR price was in total for the R?

Hey Just wondering what you mean by, you have to wait for APR to get their **** together?

I'm not sure about the specific APR build date compatibility issue he's referring to but xintis is talking about the MK7 Golf R compatibility to have the stage 1 ECU tune from a company called APR. They are well known in the tuner market globally. They specialise in VW and Audi primarily. Check their website out, lots of great things on there goapr.com.au/
If anyone knows anything concrete about the MK7 Golf R 2015 (post April build) APR stage 1 ECU compatibility issue let us know. I'm keen to go Stage 1 in the future once I've run my car in and 300HP isn't enough!
Does anybody have an idea what the release date on the Wolfsburg is supposed to be? I'm getting a bit of conflicting info from the dealer at the moment, on the one hand they said they are in transit and would be here at the start of September but then I was also told they don't have a release date. I gather they are waiting for the Frankfurt Motor Show before they can start releasing them to customers?
Not sure of the exact date, but it's in the next few weeks. There are some on the ground in Oz already, and there's a ship dropping a bunch at Melbourne this Saturday, and the rest in Sydney on Monday.
I'm taking delivery of mine 23rd Sept at this stage, so the release must be soon?

Any MK7 R April 2015 onwards has an issue with the APR mapping, as in it cant be done. Volksmuller advised me that VW have "encrypted" the ECU, and that the new code is not working. I will try and get it done on Tuesday, but we may have to go back to stock if it doesnt work. At least it doesnt "brick" your ECU, so thats nice. My build is 15th of April, so MAYBE (pray to Odin) it can work.
Getting the APR cold air intake, the GFB diverter upgrade for the "whoosh", and hopefully the map done on Tuesday. Milltek also on its way.

I just had my 15,000Km service done on my 2014 MY15 R. I had asked if they can tell me what version of the turbo I was running as I had heard there were issues with the early versions. When I picked up the car I found out I had the 2nd version and the guy looked me in the eye and said the only turbos that had blown all had tunes done [emoji12] and that VW can tell even if the tune has been cleared. Maybe, this has led to the encryption on post April 15 R's.

This is wrong, if vw could see that it was tuned why would they go ahead and fix a car that has had engine / turbo failure under warranty when it will cost them a lot of $$$$
If you do your research properly, like 90% of us have, it was cars that where not tuned that blew turbos first, and this wasn't just in Aus....
I took mine to mtq which is a turbo building company and my mate said that it was a manufacturing fault with the stop start system and the choice of material of bearing and centre shaft on turbo
Goes to show the dealers are still employing scare tactics.... It's not what they know it's what they can prove
