Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • You put it across so you can use the paddles or the gear lever to change the gears and it wont change after 20seconds... Just put it to the left and then use the paddles. Trust me

    • Took me a while to work that one out too in the first few days. As Sekas said, move it to the left and paddle it-trust him!

      • While I'm exposing just how dumb I am, can anyone answer a dumb question? How do I check my total kms on the clock so far? Dumb question , huh?

This. The cruise control standby graphic obscures it

                  • I hate to admit it, but I'm loving Eco mode! Enough power for day-to-day driving without ending up in the back of the truck in front of you, but if you need to, just nudge down the shifter or keep pushing the load pedal until it clicks. Quieter too. I think Eco should use the comfort suspension setting, rather than normal, but that's where Individual comes in.

My thoughts exactly but only the Eco does the gearbox disengage, whereas on Individual it does not - sort of negates the fact...

                      • Have you tried it? I actually think the behavior is the same. I notice the fuel consumption drops to zero when coasting in both Individual with Eco and Eco mode.

Yeah I did, it always says in E# and never just goes to E where I believe the gearbox is disengaged so you have less resistance and roll more freely.

                            • Just joking. I've not had mine long enough to start really tinkering with things. I do find race too loud for regular driving but Eco too dull. That said, I don't even know what my fuel consumption is like.

I've said it before, there needs to be a stealth button. Quiet and fast. I'm not sure how much of the noise I hear in the cabin is heard outside but it is way louder than the Mk 6 (got a buyer coming to pick my old one up in the morning who hoo). I don't want to attract too much attention in town. Eco is quieter but too slow.

I find I'm stuck in normal most of the time, just like the old car.

Find someone with a VAGCOM cable and VCDS and get the Soundaktor adjusted to your liking.
