Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • I cannot get lower than $62K for a lapiz blue Golf R with leather option. (No corporate discount).
      Am I bargaining too low?

Dealer is also saying I should put deposit now as it secures my car for april shipment or if not they say I'll have to wait till Oct.
Is that their tactic to get me to deposit now?

      • Demand and Supply... Sounds like dealers are getting 2-4 cars a month, and demand is much more than that. Maybe now with US cars on the production line too, we are getting less. You should be able to go lower, unless you have been offered a good trade-in? You can put down a deposit 'subject to test drive' and it shows a commitment that you are a serious buyer. Don't forget the dollar is not great at the moment, although I think it is still okay against the Euro. I got $61950 for DSG, Leather and Sunroof, so go a bit harder, but with the offer of a deposit this time.

        • They wont take you serious until you tell them 'im here to put a deposit down if the price is right'

            • I got vwr r600 intake today. Decided against open intake in end and glad I did. It looks and fits fantastic. There is definitely noticeable improvement in way car pulls. The sound is much louder than I expected in a good way. Can clearly hear intake/turbo now and DV sound without being overbearing. It also replaces the front area so now direct acces to air into intake, I think only intake that does this. Just wanted to give my feedback for others!

                • I don't understand why the standard intake is all closed off like it is. There are vanes there and everything, but no opening!

If you can go to a few different dealers they seem ready to play ball. If you can get a dealer with a R in stock you can go even harder. Mine was $59k with every option bar the sunroof (every car i have had with one i open it once a month at best). The dealers are having trouble swapping them as there is high demand, my dealer could not swap a white for a grey R because the other dealer figured why bother the grey will sell soon anyway. Always tell them you are prepared to place a deposit immediately if they can hit a price, if you don't they are working for nothing.

                      • Does anyone get any oddness when getting up it a bit from slow and the DSG seems to stutter going 2 > 3 and you lose a lot of momentum...
