Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 110TSI - Fuel Filter Replacement?

Hey guys, I've got a 2018 110TSI and on the VW service website it says that the fuel filter is due for replacement at 60k km - I can't find anything online about replacing it. From what I've read it's just a strainer built into the fuel pump so does it actually have a seperate replaceable fuel filter?

    @ I CU2:Hi.

Yes, the fuel filter is part of the Low-pressure fuel system. I'm not sure that it's a "strainer" - in cars that have a fuel leak detection system (like "Yankee" models), the filter is activated charcoal type.

Hmm............ I don't have a manual for MY18 Golf- but the following is from the repair manual:
    Fuel_supply_system_-_Petrol_engines_Golf 2015

    5 Fuel filter
Pressure limiting valve and fuel filter are integrated in fuel delivery unit and cannot be renewed individually

    Don
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

Correct, its built into the fuel pump. But if you read the service line it says the following:
"Fuel Filter - Renewed (Excluding internal Tank Filters)".

So you are good to not do anything, unless you want to replace the Fuel pump

It has a built in strainer to protect the pump and then a replaceable fuel filter at the rear under the car. I dont now how you searched online but easy to find both filters for sale and videos on replacing it.
