after my mk7.5 golf got written off, bought these as i was leaning on buying another mk7.5 golf. That didn't pan out so these are for sale:

225/45r17 (OD:634) would be the correct size coming down from 225/40r18 (OD:637). 245/45r17 (OD:652) just fits in to vicroads rules of +/- 15mm OD change from 225/40R18, but would cause the speedo to display a lower speed than what you are travelling at. -
might try to find some polo gti rims so i can go a more common size of 225/40R18, like the golfLeave a comment:
