Confirmed Stock Rear Sway Bar Sizes for MK7/7.5 Golfs

TSI - 19mm
GTI non DCC
GTI PP - 21.7mm
GTI DCC
R - 21.7mm

Front or rear sway bar?

I can measure the rear bar on my Mk7 GTI PP tonight if you want.

It would make sense for the GTI/R to have a thicker bar than the TSI models.

awd version has a different shape of rear sway bar to pass rear diff

Rear sway, yes.

I assumed the AWD would be different due to the diff, however numerous sites list the upgraded sway bars as fitting both FWD and AWD

This coming long weekend I'll have a look and confirm. Both cars are going up on the ramps to anyway

Confirmed my R's stock bar is 21.7mm.

Had it up to check/tighten the bolts on the Whiteline RSB (& links) yesterday.

Confirmed the TSI's rear sway bar is 19mm.

Also, the shape of the R and TSI sway bars are markedly different, and whilst the R bar will bolt up to the TSI, it then obstructs the exhaust. So, R sway bar will not fit the TSI. Sunday afternoon well spent ... learning yes, outcome not so much
