MY20 (brand new only 400km) GTI - Sometimes Jolts from a stand still

I think the most logically is brake binding from the wet/rain.

Does it make a noise when it happens ?

No other than the expected soundtrack of a 'jolt' throughout the cabin as it occurs.

It's currently at the dealer getting a cabin rattle sorted and I've asked if there's a known TPI for what I've described. We will see where the cookie crumbles. I've got five years 'Warren's-tree'

close the driver's door and there's a spring-type rattle. Salesman ran the next day after pick-up and ask how it was all going and I told him. Was able to hear it over the phone. It also exhibited a similar sound over rough road. Drove it out and they heard it instantly and said 'we'll look at it'

Nothing ever goes back the way it came out... so do worry it will be worse. Or something new introduced. We will see.

Turns out the sunvisor's mirror rattles against the vanity light above the sun visor on the driver's side.

Probably - Doesn't bother me. drive to conditions...Won't be tracked. Not setting lap times around the inner west

I should have been clearer. The jolt may be brief axle tramp caused by the S001s lack of traction. I suffered this jolting for a week on my brand new GTI 7.5 before ditching the S001s for PS4. Haven't had any jolting in the two years since. On even mild take-offs the front wheels would lose traction, causing the traction control to intervene - hence the jolt.

^ fair point. Turn off the traction control and see if it still does the jolt. (note you need to turn off the traction control each time you start the engine).

That’s exactly what I did every time I got behind wheel on mine with S001s. Miraculously the wheel hop went away when I switched to PS4S’s

Update on the Jolt, It is definately not the binding brake theory. It is when it picks up second.

The mk 7.5 7 speed (both GTI and R) both pick second gear just off zero km/h and clutch slips to keep revs up and engine in the range of some torque. It isn't happening always but it has happened a few times without any rain around.

So it jolts sometimes while going from 1st to 2nd?

As a point of reference, mine is silky smooth when doing this, but the clutch slipping (it keeps around 2000rpm) still feels weird after a year [emoji12]

I would have thought that if this kind of behaviour was normal there would be all manner of GTI owners easily being able to say so.

I'll look out for this behaviour when I get my new GTI, but I don't think it's something that should be occuring. It's not that highly strung as a performance car.
