Tyre rotation is big in the US and Aus but does not seem to happen much at all in Europe. Guess it's history and personal preference.2010 R36 (MY10.5), Biscay Blue, RNS510, MDI, Electric tailgate, sunroof, Superchips remap - SOLD

Not sure what logic ur using when u say "save a packet of cash", Rotating the fronts and rear will promote even tyre use, plus I are monitoring all 4 tyres. Whereas If u just keep running the fronts then ur left with worn fronts and partially worn rears. Safety could be compromised, and the. When u get new tyres, u have 2 new fronts with the same partially worn rears
I can't say how much distance u get from regularly rotating all tyres, but I think a case could be made that u will get more out of rotating all 4 as opposed to never rotating. Plus it's no effort as the mechanic will have the car up every service so it takes only a few minutes. But as u said, If u like that

Plus tyres can deteriorate with age, regardless of wear or use. Some would say a tyre may have passed its useful life after about five years.
So it would be better to rotate, even out the wear and replace all 4 at same time.2011 Mk6 GTI | CW | DSG | Bi-Xenon | GIAC | APR TBE | THS FMIC | Modshack

i constantly monitor my tyres, rotate when necessary and will ensure that they get worn evenly and all 4 die at the same time (in fact i try my best to kill them soon), to give way for new 4 FRESH GRIPPY tyres
but some people like and prefer for their tyres to last forever (until an emergency stop) :pMitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD

I'm due in a few weeks for a service. I'm thinking about going back to the dealer for the 30,000km service. However, since the 15,000km service, I'd added some APR goodies to the car.
Anyone here gone back to the dealer for servicing with a modified Mk6?2010 VW Golf MK6 GTI - 3 door | Carbon Steel Grey | DSG | 19" VMR V705 | Carbonio CAI | APR RSC Turboback Exhaust + Stage 2 Tune

But I am still perfectly able to monitor tyre use regardless of not rotating them - it really is not difficult. And in a front engined front drive car, the fronts have more importance than the rears and will wear more and thus far more important to the drive. Now, getting new front tyres is half the cash of getting a full set - and the grip is still relevant to the rear. I've yet to notice ANY difference driving a car with brand new fronts and part worn rears at any stage. Arguably a car with two new front tyres is safer than a car with four part worn tyres...
Safety is NOT compromised - that's nonsense. How would you compare it with having part worn tyres and then having a puncture necessitating a brand new tyre. Are you saying that safety is compromised by having one new and three part worn tyres? No, but it's not as safe as it was and no-one is going to buy a 4 brand new tyres. Then again, why not change the brake pads and disks at every service too to be safe as these will wear. It goes on for ever....
I know it's easy to chnage the wheels around but I;d rather not pay for something that makes littrle difference to me.
In all honesty, safety is compromised by Victoria drivers not being required to have an annual check on their car which relies on the driver checking it.
Sorry for being OT too - now coming up to second year service here in Melbourne and need warranty work so having bought from Essendon, will be interesting to compare their prices to Camberwell given their recent move to plush facilities...2010 R36 (MY10.5), Biscay Blue, RNS510, MDI, Electric tailgate, sunroof, Superchips remap - SOLD

Just got my 2010 DSG GTI. It has done 28,800kms and the dealer I bought it from gave it an oil change and put a sticker in the top right corner of the windscreen saying that the next service is due at 38,000kms. The car's computer says service is due. I think the car is right.2010 | Mk 6 | Golf GTI | DSG | black | 18" Detroit's | MDI

10,000kms between service is unusual I would have thought. 7,500kms for interval service and 15,000kms for 'major' service. I know my 30,000kms will also include a brake fluid replacement/flush etc as well as the usual oil change, filter changes.MY14 Audi S3 - Misano Red, S-tronic, Performance pack with parade red trim.
