I fitted these blue coated halogen hybrid T10 globes. Came free with some Phillips H7 globes I got for the Skoda. I think they put out a nice white light with no led stuffing around. You can pick up a pair for a few bucks.
I know it's hard to tell at night with digital cameras how bright lights really are. But unless you've got a really good camera and are great at photography, those lights look way too dark....
Just from the iPhone camera. You must like you numberplate lights very bright. They look fine at night. I'm not exactly using them to light the road so I think they're sufficient

Yeah, but weren't people complaining about the R dash ones being too bright? I remember several people commenting on that and to be honest that was one of the reasons I had delayed getting them (that and the am reception issue as unfortunately I listen to that for footy broadcasts).
Lets just say, I prefer the understated look

Hmmmm honestly, reckon it's really worth the effort? The warm light almost suits the R Tails a little better.
The car without the LED's is mine... Vaku's does look alot better in person. It compliments the xenons in the front of the car. The white glow around the car is alot more consistent. I'll be getting these.

Exactly. Once you see it in person, you will want it.
So I had an email from the R Dash seller, automotor168, and he said (in his bad English), that they've found a solution to the AM reception issue, and that they need some time to "make one for" me. Once they've done that, they'll send that and I don't have to return the "original one". So sounds like they're sending entire new units or something.
When my R-Dash lights arrived on Friday and I fitted them at the weekend I was resigned to losing AM reception, which I didn't mind too much as I don't tend to listen to it too often. However I didn't notice any drop in AM reception.
I followed the same install instructions as you provided Corey, but stuck the resistors with the flat side facing up - not sure if that made any difference or not, by the sounds of the tests done it probably didn't.
MY11.5 Golf R - Candy White 5 door - still giggling like a child when I drive it!

OK I've received my OEM LEDs. Looks really awesome! Throws a warning light though - damn! Mate's GTI Adidas throws a warning light too. Will have to wait for VW to come up with a way to remove the error code. Hopefully this will happen during my first service in Jan 2012!

Bugger!
Kind of idiotic though. With OEM stuff, it should be plug-n-play.
