It's up to you guys whether you chose to do this yourself though.
I always put it in the rear passenger-side window also for quite a long time now. I think in QLD is that it cannot be place behind any tint at all if I remember correctly. I think for Golf drivers you wouldn't have a problem but if you drove a car that attracted cop/defect attention then they might find you something to book you for, even if it's something minor like having your rego sticker behind tint, or not having water in your window washer fluid reservoir etc.

Hows the ride with the 19x8.5 setup? I will have the same at some point, hoping the ride quality wont be compromised too much..

lol yeah - true. If I was driving some "fully sick car", there is no way I'd be putting a rego sticker behind any tint

My mum actually got pulled over a couple of years ago for being unregistered after the cop following her ran rego check. Problem was the that rego was current (was paid at the RTA months earlier and had the printed receipt number) and the police system wasn't up to date.

                    • Lol bummers!
But yeah, that just proves my point. The cops don't look at the registration sticker, they just look at the plates, do a rego check via their computers! Technology has made the sticker redundant. WA and SA have already ditched it, hopefully the others will follow soon

                      • Heres hoping if/when they do ditch them in VIC/NSW they also revise the rego renewal costs as theres money to be saved on printing/mailing all those stickers! Not likely though lol.

                        • yeah... that'll never happen! If anything, I think we'd be lucky if the rego price just stays the same for that year! lol

                          • yep true that.. if we only had an effective road infrastrucutre then it would be justifiable, but taking 3 hours to travell ~25-30km in peak hour in+out of Melbourne is a joke.. (recent personal experience). getting off topic so ill end my rant there

                            • Each to their own of course - but i worked at a car dealership for about 3 years some time ago and we were forbidden from putting rego labels over tint because it is illegal, therefore most were put on the winscreen in the far top or bottom corner on the passenger side. And to top it off, my girlfriend is a police officer so i would get a slap on the wrist if the rego label was anywhere but on the winscreen.

Rob from Hunters Hill tint put my rego label on my tint on my left rear window after he tinted the car too!

It's much better for several reasons. A location on the left rear window is less obtrusive to the driver. (especially on a 3 door if you put it right against the B Pillar, as it's COMPLETELY not in the drivers vision). It looks better in photos. But mainly because the tint blocks out >99.9% of UV, which means the label and its glue doesn't deteriorate anywhere near like it does on the windscreen where it's basically "in direct sunlight" and being baked by that UV. Thus, when it's time to change the rego sticker, it just peels off very nicely, and usually takes all its glue with it. At most, it just needs a wipe over with some eucalyptus oil and then some regular car window cleaner, then put the next rego sticker on.

I did this 8 times in the one location on the one car without any issue... so I highly recommend it.
