Dude... ( I really hate that terminology ) stop and think about it....do you really think that VWA would have a "Private Import" as their "star" of the show??? Come on...VWA have been advertising since they first announced the Scirocco that it would be at the Motor Show... it was no last minute thing...

How do you know he knew "a hell of a lot about the car and the VW Range"? Did he confrim or deny the diff question?

You could have put any number of people from this Forum on that stand and I guarantee you they would have known as much or more than anyone that VWA had there...

At the end of the day though...who really cares...I have made up my mind and the sooner I can place an order the better... regardless of what diff it has.

    • Any care to give me an idea on resale value on a non optioned rocco in three yrs time? Just realised a two door R32 with leathers and sat nav dropped by $30k in 4 yrs. Am I missing something?

It was not a last minute thing, however going by overseas wait times of 12 months+ for this car, VWA may have asked a lllocal importer and even VW New Zealand for a car to borrow to display.

Nissan Australia had to ask people who were importing the GTR from Japan to show it off at the Melbourne Motorshow a few years back, because they simply could not get one to display.

So its entirely likely that VWA are in the same boat.

What really scares me is this:

        - VW Golf GTI = 6months+ wait
        - VW Golf R = 6 months+ wait
        - VW Polo = 6 month wait
        - VW Polo GTI = OVER 1 YEAR WAIT! (there are people being told they need to wait until October 2012!!!!!)

I pray to God that this does not happen with the Scirocco...

To be fair the GTI and R are more expensive then the Polo GTI, therefore the less wait time as less people can afford them? Im hoping the same applies for the Scirocco, because I cant stand waiting 12 months for this, it would eat me up on the inside.

It's a real shame because it continues to happen for every performance model released.

            • Holly crap friend of mine in the uk told me last nite on fb it took his dad 12months and several complaints to get his 2l TDI Rocco and the wait was insanely long for most ppl. Not a good sign. Which might help with my resale issue. Mite have to get on the list soon, when I test drove the R Sam at mascot mention there were already 12 which was high being 9months+ from release date. FARK wat to do I want test drive it first.

                • Just to clear a few things up. The Scirocco R front diff employs VW's electronically controlled XDS technology, which is also found in the Mk6 Golf GTI/GTD.

However the thing that is interesting about the Scirocco is that it shares the same rear axle as the VW Passat making it wider than the Golf and therefore giving it a lower centre of gravity.

                  • Also the fact that the car is just lower in general (1404mm for Scirocco R vs 1493mm for Golf R) gives it a lower centre of gravity

                    • If the Rocco has XDL..does this mean that one has to switch off XDL if one wants to install a mechanical LSD?

I think its safe to assume a mechanical LSD would prevent the XDS from ever needing to be engaged

It was fitted with the standard Kyalami design cloth seats (not 2 tone leather) and are Heated as standard...
I'm sure this isn't news, but VW Aus has already confirmed ACC will be standard:

"The Scirocco R is also available with Adaptive Chassis Control which comes as standard."

Given the video I have seen of the White Stig fanging the Golf R and then the Scirocco R up a tight hillclimb course in UK... why would you want to install a mechanical LSD? At least not for road use.

ACC standard as are 19" Taladega's makes good sense and limits the options. Someone should take a link of the AUSmotive site and give it to all the VWA personnel at the Motor Show.

There are still conflicting views on release date, the latest Wheels Magazine says 4th Qtr, I was told October and early 2012 by different people at the Motor Show on Saturday.... I will see what my VW Dealer says and go from there.

As far as Golf R delieveries, there seems to be plenty of stock around or due depending on your colour choice etc, so if you really want one.... it shouldn't take 9 months now if you are prepared to compromise a little.
Lets see what the Scirocco ends up being....

                            • Thats very interesting. I never noticed it within the Aussie press release:

If they manage to keep it at the 3 Door Golf R price with the Adaptive Chassis Control and 19" Rims as Standard, it make this even more tempting. Heres hoping that MDI and Bluetooth are also standard.

The only other options I would care about is the DSG Box and Sunroof. Leather, Recarro's and Sat Nav I dont care too much about. And an RNS510 can always be added later if you really want it.

All I want is the price list and release date God Damn It! VW Australia I want to give you my money! Just give me info!
