Sounds pretty good, mine was that price with manual, no leather and 18"..but has sat nav and sun roof.

The R is hardly overtly racey looking and I rarely exceed the speed limit.

One idiot tonight felt the need to purposely speed up and slow down next to me for 5 km's or more along 3 (Mona Vale Road)

If that is the spec you want, do it. The time may come when new MKVI Golf Rs attract close to RRP, given that new orders are not being taken and the MKVII is some time off.

Interesting. So the R never got the rvc option if i read that correctly (or required the more expensive park assist option, presuming this isn't the auto park option, but the moving grid lines)?
I got my R during one of those "drive away" type deals (still paid the rip off dealer delivery, but looks like there was a bit of savings to be had anyway with rego and insurance paid by VW). Don't feel so bad now for paying rrp haha. I didn't think i had any place to negotiate seeing the available Rs in country were as rare as hens teeth...

What's interesting is that everyone also thought that the Recaros were $5300 just for the front seats but you get the matching leather / alcantara in the rear as well, glad I got them
