well there is hardly any need for that as for A$609 delivered, it is still under the $900 or $1000 limit allowed...
so there are no import fees anyhow even if it's marked 'new'.

maybe the seller just can't be bothered checking each countries limitation but it doesn't look like seller is deliberately trying to make the value way so much lower as we've seen cases where in the past sellers are putting ridiculously low value like $40 or something like that... which raises some eyebrows obviously...

anyway I'm glad I've got it safe... is there a quick way to test that it's not DOA? since I dont have all the parts required to have it installed... I have to let the seller know within 14 days if it's DOA

      Camera: 5K0 827 469 AM
      Loom: 5M1 970 161 AC

both these parts are on ECS TUning just paste it onto the part search directly
u'd be amazed (like I was but it was too late for me) that both parts above cost less to get from ECS Tuning even including shipping compared to the ebay UK seller's asking price of $609 delivered!

That's not actually the loom you need to do all the wiring for the camera, that simply runs from one of the connections on the camera through to the RNS unit, plus, it has the 5 amp power line. You still need to rig up a complicated loom using other wiring that taps into the other cables near the actual hatch.

FYI, when you buy the camera from the Polish eBay guy, you get that cable included with the RVC. Worked out cheaper for me to get it from him as I was getting the 9W7 kit at the same time.

Bits and bobs arrived today... box was huge compared to the tiny contents, no wonder it cost a fortune to ship, grrrr.. Anyway, will be making up the wiring loom this week in preparation for the weekend

Yeah, I know... that was the hard part, but according to volkwerke those wiring loom that needs to be constructed are for mk5 owners who want to retrofit mk6 rvc into their car, but for native mk6 the loom should already be in there? but it's just maybe they haven't done it on an mk6 before... let me know how you go when you open up the rear hatch trim and whether the loom is there and useable or do we need to really construct a new loom?

Does anyone know whether the RCD510's that come with GTI's have the video input to be able to retrofit the RVC? Thanks.

I was told only if the GTI came originally equipped with RVC... the hard way to find out is to pull the RCD510 unit out and see the back of it and see if you have the version with RVC socket provided...

Yeah, had I know about that possibility, I probably would have taken the trim off and had a look first... oh well, if it is there, then you'll hear me screaming all the way in Melbourne sometime this weekend no doubt

NO, there is no loom in place. Volkswagen do NOT install looms for devices that are not installed.

You need to create a loom and the only part that is different from the Mark V loom is where it connects to the reverse light.

The only difference from my guide for the Mark V (Mark VI guide I'll try and get up this week) is the few minor changes which I've just listed on my Mark V guide, everything else is essentially the same.

Only if the car was equipped with RVC does it come with the RVC interface. So far this is across the board for all specs with the RCD 510.

You might want to check the parts list given as you'll find it's missing a connector that will leave you with an unfinished job.
