Idiot cop at the booze bus told me that the DRLs are illegal. Can't they tell the difference between DRLs and fogs?

The other thing I miss from the Mk5 was the extendable sunvisors - they were great for when you had the sun on the side window near the B pillar. No doubt a cost cutting measure by taking out of the Mk6

I believe they are separate accessories that you can order

having spent more time in the car i can add another thing:

the urge with which it flings itself out of corners is remarkable for a fwd car. it really is almost awd-like. and the steering is better too. oh and vw, where in the sweet **** are my gti sill strips!? i liked those!

    Further to my previous post:

    Good
    - On the manual gearbox whilst far from being perfect, it is getting better with more kms. It has become a little bit smoother and gotten a nicer feel to it.
    - I love how in the neutral gate the gear stick naturally springs back into alignment with 3rd gear, which just requires a gentle push forward before taking a 90 degree left turn and then letting the torque to pull you out of the corner.
    - You don't need to cane the car to enjoy it (see above)
    - How is it possible that I can get 4.8L/100km with this type of performance

    Bad
    - With the school holidays approaching, another 50 litres of boot space would be appreciated.

"I asked the dealer to disable the day-time lights, but for some reason they're now back on. I'm pretty sure I haven't reset any factory settings..."

I haven't gone through all the replies to see who has mentioned it already.....but on mine I turned off the daytime lights using the MFD if you haven't already figured out.

I find the new styling makes the car look lower than the mk5. Which is a good thing.

these are all year speed limits. because of this sensible approach to traffic management (stringent driver training backed up by enforcement) it's safer to ride bikes, scooters etc and to be a pedestrian over there. they also have bigger fines and stricter penalties for infringement. and autobahns aren't nearly as unrestricted as people think. i cringe everytime i see someone go on about how we should have them in australia. kind of like flying cars. awesome idea till you realise the bloke down the street who views bumpers and fenders as consumeables will get one too.

    on topic. good:
build quality. i thought the mkv was pretty good but the vi is better inside in almost every way.
lcd touchscreen making more options cheaper.
handling feels better (xds, or bigger rear sway?)
ea888 is a better engine, one of the best engines around i think.
dsg, again, hoping for another flawless experience. the slower (line and track) less precise manual never got a look in.
    seats are even better
from the a-pillar back the styling is better. especially the back. the mkv had a loveable but fat arse. this is much better. like a mkiv and v had a beautiful baby but then someone dropped it on it's face.

    bad:
not getting the rvc. i was in a hurry and i know i'll regret it and pay twice as much to have it installed after. bugger.
the driving experience is a bit more sanitised and less 'raw' than the mkv. this is subjective and it's maybe a little unfair but it's how it feels. but that is kind of a positive too, probably 'cos i'm getting old.
suspension could be a little less comfort oriented. guess i'm not quite old enough hey?
i want an auto open & close hatch dammit! factory, not diy. jesus i am getting old.
i also liked the mkv tartan pattern better, and the mkv headrests.

i don't know if like it better than the mkv but it's still damn good.

Same on mine blanch0b, both side.
Tried cleaning the sills (from the outside) but still get streaks even after the car has been let to dry for 3 days. The amount of dirt/streaks seems to be reducing over time/a couple of washes (i hope).

is anyone else having this problem? hopefully when i take it in for a service the dealer will clean whatever is down there and seal it up properly (if thats the issue)
It looks like a bit o grease got on rubber roller. Try clean it while the glass is coming up, move it up and down several times.
