Bonnet may not open if the wipers are in service position (upright) - consult your manual what is this service position basically Key ACC, press down on wiper once and the wiper will go up.Originally posted by Converted View PostGTI - 10 days old.
The Weird
- Washed my car for the first time this morning, wanted to get under the hood to check for leaves. Can't open bonnet, I think it is stuck! Pulled the bonnet lever close to 90 degrees (around 70-80) up. Did it as manual suggested. Anyone having had this issue? Can't find any posts re this.
or the vice versa,
Wiper won't operate if bonnet is not closed properly. Same with rear wipers won't operate if hatch is not closed properly.
That was according the dealer during new owner introduction night

I guess the cable that links the lever to the release mechanism isn't on properly. I'd get the dealer to have a look at it (assuming they can open the bonnet to fix the problem)

Yup tried that, having pulled the lever there's not 'thud' reaction and the bonnet doesn't 'pop' up that 1 inch to let me slide my fingers thru. The bonnet is still flush.

Usually you pull the black lever near the accelerator pedal until, and then you slide your hand under the bonnet near the middle and there's another little handle in there to pull. I'm assuming you've already tried this though.

The Good
- Noticed that the fuel indicator on the dash has a little arrow to tell you which side the fuel cap is on
The Bad
- Already touched in other threads.

Thats ok, just challange them to the next motorkhana in your area - nothing quite as funny as the look of frustration on an AWD drivers face while trying to keep up with "slower" RWDs turning on the throttle and FWDs pulling handbrake turns around the flags.
Its all about picking your fights. LOL

For the sake of the Forums , mine shall remain stock . . . FOR EVER.Originally posted by Beakerhehe - thats where it starts Flappa, and before you know it, you have an empty wallet and a car thats almost undrivable on the road.
Been there.
I was initialy a bit disapointed in the performance, but I'm getting used to enjoying the handling now instead - although I should have gone the R - there is nothing quite as frustrating a dropping a wheel off the inside of a corner and giving it the berries only to have it not go anywhere because of wheelspin. Bloody FWDs! I've had to unlearn everything I knew about driving and start from scratch.

Nah - it's not possible with a Golf. As I'm sure you'll all read in the http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f112...nge-49481.html very soon, even a 275kW/521Nm+ GTI is very driveableOriginally posted by Beaker View Posthehe - thats where it starts Flappa, and before you know it, you have an empty wallet and a car thats almost undrivable on the road.

Good to see I'm not the only one.I've had exactly the same thought, and for a while there I was worried that there was something wrong with my GTI. First week or so, my head was repeatedly jerking backwards against the headrest, but now no more. And I miss it.
But I'm sure there's not a change in the actual performance, it's just that I am used to it now, and probably a little more controlled with the right foot as well.
Has anyone else experienced this?
maybe time for the "upgrade" , I like the "kick"

They're adjustable on the GTI too.Originally posted by Dubya View PostI noticed they were adjustable on the R; is it really so that they do not adjust on the GTI?
I can only imagine that Maltopia means that they can't "fold down" or something so that they don't block the view out the rear when you don't have rear passengers...
